Been sitting on this one a while, as it was a present so the recipient had to be kept out of the loop.
Fairly simple conversions (loincloth, sculpt a hand, scabbard belts, build a spacehulk style base) and a nice tabletop character paint job incorporating several requests from the client (shield colours, lettering, face and hair colour, name).

Very nice. Nice subtle highlights on the black and great smooth colours. Nice pose too.

Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

Portugal

Out of curiosity, was the future owner of the miniature portuguese? That shield looks suspiciously like our Portuguese shield It even has the same number of castles.

in either case, looks fantastic, that miniature would be amazing for a table top RPG as it's so full of character. (Oh and I absolutely love the helmet idea!)

Yes, the recipient is Portuguese. The shield is based (loosely) on the current Portuguese coat of arms. It was a leaving-work present so a number of requests were made, including the logo of the firm to be included (present on right shoulder), the hair and face colours, the lettering 'MC UX', the name and having some semblance to the Portuguese arms.

I'm glad someone recognised it, means I did the job correctly. :-)

He's looking superb winterdyne.

We don't see enough of your painted minis like we used too, have things slowed down or are you still painting loads for Mantic?

Over the last year I did a fair amount for Maelstrom's edge, few bits for mantic too. I think my throughput's been around the same.

Very well painted! Though, Just a tiny nitpick (Feel free to ignore me) With the way you attached the sword, He would be holding the sword in the same hand as the shield.. If you are to pull and hold the sword in the right hand, The scabbard should be on the left hip as it is easier to pull it if it is on the opposite hip.

Ignoring my stupid nitpick, Incredible model!

Oh, I really like that. Relatively simple but very characterful with a really nice paintjob. I just love the face!

True about the scabbard. Didn't really want to put it there, but it just wouldn't go on the other side.

I guess when he wants to fight he'll just have to do some hand swapping once he's figured out how to put a helmet on one-handed.
