Rather than the typical lightning effect, I want to give my hammers a molten metal kind of look, something that looks like it will melt whatever it hits as well as just crushing it. Trouble is I have no idea how to do this :(

After looking at google pics of white hot metal, I was thinking maybe a white base with a slow buildup of orange glaze around the edges, but I'm not even close to a "pro" painter and was hoping for some advice before I start.

Any painters out there who've ever done this? Or even have any ideas on where to start?

If so, I'd prime in white, then make a thin wash with yellow and medium and hit all the edges to build up to that orange. In the orange parts, a few stippled areas of darker orange to mix it up.

Interesting idea, would love to see how you go.
