So Dakkanauts...

Im returning to the game after a long hiatus (5th ed grey knight codex had just come out last time i played) and it appears the "meta" has shifted somewhat.
I know that the best way to refine an army list is to play games, as the saying goes- the best of weapons are forged in the heat of battle, but i'd like a good starting point.
which do you reckon of the following 2 lists should be my jump off point?

LIST 1, CAD + GOREPACK
HQ 505
chaos lord, jugger, fist, sigil, blood forged armour, axe of khorne
daemon prince, flight, goredrinker, warp forged armour, ichor blood (had a few spare points)

TROOPS 345
3x 8 letters, banner, reaper, instrument

FAST 234
2x spawn
heldrake, baleflamer

HEAVY 460
maulerfiend
2x grinders, phlegm

GORE PACK 452
2x 3 bikers, 2 meltas, combi melta on champ
3x 5 flesh hounds

what are your thoughts?
any glaring errors, necessary stuff ive missed?

I think list 2 is much better. You have a lot more redundancy with the extra grinder and maulerfiend. Really you only lost the Heldrake.

The Daemon Prince isn't very good as Khorne, no psychic powers is pretty bad for so many points. If you were going to run one, he's the one who needs to wear the Blood-Forged Armour. But I like the loadout on the Juggerlord, I think he'll do more for you since you can protect him with Flesh Hounds.

You might consider dropping a unit of Bloodletters to add more Flesh Hounds. I also think I like the Blood_Forged Armour build with PF/LC best for the Juggerlord. Then again I usually run it in the CSM codex becuase the Axe of Blind Fury is just too good. I've never used Goredrinker so I can't attest to how good/bad it is.

A Protoss colony world

In list 2, your juggerlord has an illegal loadout. You can't take more than one artifact of slaughter on a single character (so no Goredrinker + Blood-forged armor). The suggestion to drop a squad of Bloodletters in favor of more hounds is a good one, just add some hounds to one of the squads to make a bigger unit that can run with the Juggerlord. In the first list, you might be better served by replacing the Daemon Prince with a Bloodthirster (any kind). They are better for the points.

thanks for the replies!

i too thought that the blood host was the better list, so i will running that one for the foreseeable.
taking your advice into account heres the adjusted list (forgot about the 2 artefacts- so will swap goredrinker for an axe of khorne, really want to hit with ap2 whenever, might be overkill but as hannibal says in the a team movie "overkill is underrated!")
