Hey mates. Currently in the process of building up a White Scars Army from the Kauyon Book and I am off to a great start with 27x Legion Outrider Bikes and the Devestators for my Skyhammer formation. With that being said, while my initial plan was to build a White Scars Army using the Horus Heresy Models to be able to play both 40k and 30k, a few of my mates suggested that I do a different Chapter based of the Horus Heresy instead, as not only are many not a real fan of the White Scars Fluff, many of them say that White is extremely hard to paint, especially on bikes. Although I still plan to do a White Scars list (99.9999999% sure, as I have a really good friend who is great at painting), it did get me thinking that it doesn't hurt to keep my options open and maybe consider other routes when it comes to fielding a bike list during the Horus Heresy. With that being said, if anyone has any suggestions or opinions, I would love to hear them. These are a few off the top of my head:

* Space Wolves: Makes sense, as they love to charge into combat and since it has been confirmed that they won't have any Thunder Wolf Cavalry during the HH time (not sure but that is what I heard anyways), then a Bike list of charging, rampaging Vikings on Bikes would fit the bill nicely.

* Templar Brethren: Basically Black Templar with a different Paint-Scheme, would make sense as they are the most Frenzied members of the Imperial Fists and it would fit the Templar theme as well.

* Raven Guard: Not known for Bikes, however a mate of mine believes that an Army with the Mark IV Raven Guard Helmets and Torsos on Bikes would look very good on the Table Top, and it would be a lot easier to paint compared to White Scars.

That's just a few options off the top of my head so any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Most of the Chapter Tactics work fine for Bikers. The only ones that gain no benefit are Imperial Fists, Mantis Warriors, and Red Scorpions off the top of my head.

Dark Angels or Astral Claws. My Claws still get Skilled Rider and Stubborn isn't bad. Plus, Speeders get Scout in the same Detachment as a non-vehicle model, so there are some good and fast methods available.

Dark Angels arguably have the best bikes in 40k. Though I couldn't tell you on if it will work for 30k or not.

Hmm might be some confusion here. Rules wise, I still plan to use the white scar rules for both 40k and 30k when it comes to the army itself. All I am just wondering is what other space marine Chapter could I get away with running those same rules but still keep to the fluff as close as possible for those chapters. Didn't go with the Dark Angels as they already have the Ravenwing at this time.
