The Midwest Conquest GT is the first Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament to be hosted at ConQuesT, Kansas City's premier science fiction convention. Held over Memorial Day weekend, this two day event will feature six rounds of battle to determine who is the greatest general in the Midwestern United States. We're excited to bring a large scale gaming event to ConQuesT, the first in its 47-year history.

This tournament is part of the Frontline Gaming Independent Tournament Circuit 2016 season. That means that the results of the Midwest Conquest GT will contribute to your overall ITC rankings. With our central location, we're hoping to draw players from all over the midwest (and beyond) to throw down the gauntlet and vie for the title of Conqueror of the Midwest!

To register for the Midwest Conquest GT, you just need to do two things. First, you need a badge for ConQuesT 47. Second, you'll need to fill out our tournament registration form. You can do these steps in any order, but you must do both to get into the event on May 28th. There's no additional cost for entering the tournament; it's included in your weekend badge, and that badge gives you access to everything else going on at ConQuesT.

We've extended our signup period! We've confirmed with ConQuesT that weekend badges will be available at the convention for $65. With that news, we are officially extending our online tournament registration through May 26th! You will need to pick up your badge on Friday, May 27th, to participate, and we're currently looking at ways to streamline that process, so watch this space for future updates.

Note that online registration for the convention still ends on April 30th, and that registering before then will save you $15 - it's only $50 to register now!

We have over $1500 in prizes, both as awards and for random door prizes:
  • $400 for 1st place/Best General, along with a free badge for next year’s ConQuesT convention (and Midwest Conquest GT!)
  • An Imperial Knight painted and fully magnetized by Technomartyr Studios
  • 2 FAT Mats from Frontline Gaming
  • 2 Aluminum Model Storage Cases from KR Multicase
  • 2 $100 Gift Certificates from Scattershot Painting
  • 2 Model Kits from Kromlech for Best Painted Army
  • $50 in Gift Certificates from Secret Weapon Miniatures
  • Boxes of gaming swag from Wargames Supply for Best General, Best Painted, and Best Sportsman
  • A Wargamer's Kit from The Army Painter for Best General
  • 3 Mantic Battlezone terrain kits
  • Multiple model kits and bundles from our various local sponsors

We’re also going to raffle off a Mad Max: Fury Road-themed Ork Speed Freaks army! This army will be clocking in at around 1850 points, and is being built and painted by our local team of modelers and painters. There’s Trukks, Buggies, Warbikers, a Doof Wagon Battlewagon complete with Goff Rocker, Immortan Joe, Furiosa – all the trimmings, but done Orky-style! The whole thing will be packed in a KR Multicase backpack, so you’ll be able to take it home in style!

We’ll be selling raffle tickets for $1 each at the Midwest Conquest GT, and all the money we collect will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. There’s no limit on the number of tickets you can buy, and every ticket purchased goes right into the donation pot. It’s a great chance to win a new army while giving to a very worthy cause.

We hope to see you on May 28th and 29th, 2016!

More information can be found at MidwestConquest.com.

The main three places I know of in KC for 40K gaming are:

- Pulp Fiction Comics and Games in Lee's Summit, MO (http://pfcomics.com/ / https://www.facebook.com/groups/PulpFiction40K/) - that's my local stomping grounds. We have monthly tournaments, and an active group of players for getting a game pretty much any time
- Tabletop Game and Hobby in Overland Park, KS (http://www.tabletopgameandhobby.com/) - Another great store with a big gaming area, lots of tables, and weekly 40K play. They're changing locations in February, but just a couple of miles to the north to a bigger, better space
- 31st Century Hobbies and Games in Olathe, KS (http://www.31stcenturygames.com/) - I've played there a couple of times; also a good-sized store with a number of tables

Also, I know that the local Games Workshop store (https://www.facebook.com/GWBlueRidgeCrossing) has a number of events that they run. It's a smaller venue, but they do run leagues and such.

Welcome to the area! We hope we can help you get your game on, and I hope to see you at the GT in May!

Given that the new GW FAQ has basically stated that they are not changing the rulings, but rather will clarify the wording if needed. How will this factor into your tournament? I saw some updates the the FAQ, but is everything from the FAQ in force unless there is a conflict with yours?
