Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Hey everyone, I was just looking at some stuff and I'm just starting Necrons and I was just wondering what the better weapon on the Immortals is, the Gauss or Tesla weapon.
Cheers

It depends on the enemy and the rest of the army. Typically, Gauss because it makes the Immortals a threat to damn near everything. Land Raider? Only a mild problem. Imperial Knight? We got this. But, Tesla is really really fun against something like the Green Tide, Conscripts or other massive squads.
If you're lacking some anti-infantry and you want your Immortals to zap and only zap, it's worth considering Tesla. When you don't know what you'll be facing, Gauss is the more reasonable choice.

It depends on what your targets are. When up against armored enemies, I use gauss and when I'm going against softer targets like hordes of Tyranids, I use tesla.
However, and please know that I have never run the numbers, I've found that it's generally just more worth it to use warriors rather than immortals when possible.

At 12 inches or less, Gauss will do more damage, and with Decurion granting Relentless you can charge with either one.
If you plan for them to be aggressive and in the front, Gauss. If you want them in the back and camping, Tesla.

There is only one scenario in which tesla is clearly superior:
Shooting marines or terminators at 13-24 inch range.
In any other situation, gauss is superior.

Tesla weapons can inflict more wounds on average against 3+ armor enemies, but that's about all that's going for them. Gauss Weapons will still inflict just as much wounds against anything else, double their effectiveness once you're in rapid-fire range, does not decrease in average number of shots when you have to fire Overwatch, and can threaten vehicles.
Go with Gauss. There's too much versatility to be had in exchange for being marginally worse against MEQ and TEQs at non-rapid fire range.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
