So I'm going to a kill team tournament this Saturday, anyone have any experience playing against or as Imperial guard in kill team? I am going to need all the help I can get.

So far, It seems like the best way to do things is with some sort of combination of a chimera and something else.

Thoughts?

Chimera and vets pretty much rocked socks for me. Stealth for your whole team for 3 points? 3 special weapons and one heavy of choice?

Also: fire barrels on the tank are pretty sweet. The first guy that charges is just toast.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you stealth your team for 3 points?

Sorry, not 3 points. 10 points. I don't know why I typed 3.

Snare mines and Camo gear.

Oh also, a priest can be quite nice in kill team if you want a cc element. He can go smash mode and crunch dedicated enemy melee stuff while having a 4++. But honestly I've never needed one.

Rough riders also tend to be half decent, hilariously enough. Each one can pop a space marine and then fun around distracting everyone. 3+ armor is absurdly common in KT.

Ahh I see. If it is so common would taking scions be worth it? you can fit 10 + chimera at 295 points.

Scions won't be able to deepstrike, so you end up over-paying but they can be good with ap3 guns and a transport with another ap3 gun or a tl-autocannon.

I've tried chimera vets and they did amazingly good. Chimera is very tough for killteam. av12 is basically the highest you can get in there. Unless you count in necrons with an artificial av13 if it's not ruled out otherwise - not sure here.

Vets with krak grenades are simply op. Remember, in kill team every model's a single squad, so, you get bs4 s6 ap4 shot from every guy. If you're in for a friendly game, don't do it.

Rough riders are overlooked in regular games and although they tend to be lackluster, i think they still have a place there. Whereas they're pretty good for killteam with dence terrain.

Don't underestimate 'tons of dudes' - I did well at a kill team event with a 35-strong mob of cultists with autoguns.

The fact that you can't readily split fire means that heavy weapons often have trouble.

Grenades are indeed a very good buy, and chimeras are very effective little tanks - it's amazing how they suddenly feel 'king of the table'.

Rough Riders are very nice. Equally, deathriders can be pretty tasty if you're allowed forgeworld units.
