RoW: Pride of the Legion LoW: Lorgar Transfigured (Warlord) HQ: Erebus Elites: Mhara Gal Gal Vorbak, Dark Martyr has AA and lightning claws Troops: Veteran Tactical Squad (power weapon, plasma pistol, AA on sergeant, plasma gun and heavy bolter on marines) Rhino Veteran Tactical Squad (Power weapon + AA on sergeant, 2x plasma gun on Marines) Rhino Veteran Tactical Squad (AA on sergeant, 2x meltaguns on Marines) The basic tactic here is a threat overload. Lorgar leads the melta veterans together with Erebus. Lorgar tanks for the squad (with Precognition he can tank an army's firepower) and Levitates the squad ahead quickly, posing a large threat, and the squad can split in 3 once they reach the enemy line (Lorgar, Erebus and the Veterans can all handle a melee each on their own). The plasma veterans outflank, and the plasma + HB veterans sit in one of the Rhinos while the other Rhino goes along as backup and bonus cover. The Gal Vorbak deep strike. The Mhara Gal uses its ability to ignore terrain to rush ahead as quickly as possible through impassable and LoS-blocking terrain if available, serving as an extra threat that is hard to dig out and forces the enemy to decide between it and Lorgar (and it is still very tough with AV13 5++ IWND) This is assuming I face a ranged army, which will be the toughest matchup. Lorgar will eat other melee armies for breakfast.

I think it should work very nicely.
What were you thinking for your third power? If you take precognition and levitation, you won't get any primaris powers.
Possibly Prescience to give the veterans two shots each?
Also, what veteran tactics are you thinking? Obviously outflank for the outflankers, but the plasma/heavy bolter seems an odd mix, and the meltagunners might want a melee trait if you're planning on splitting them off.
Lorgar is lethal, but you still need to allow for facing something comparable in melee - precognition is awesome but doesn't make him invincible. Worst case scenario, you face a leviathan detachment and a titan simply steps on him. It nearly happens in the books, and Angron isn't around to play Atlas this time.
At the same time, it's a tactically nasty force.
I'd actually say the worst thing you can face is a Daemons or other psyker-heavy army - anyone with sufficient warp charge that you either fail to get precognition and levitation off reliably or have to throw so many dice at them that he burns himself with perils far too fast for comfort.

Very much agreed. In fact, I think a D-equipped army might be the toughest, since it can just oneshot Lorgar. The loadout on that squad is... odd, yes, but it's an old squad I built before I knew what was good and not and I really don't have the heart to disassemble those old fellas. For veteran tactics, the outflankers naturally outflank, and I don't see a lot of use in Fearless since Word Bearers with Lorgar present are damn hard to rout. Furious charge for Lorgar's squad and Sniper for the Rhino guys is what I am thinking. For the third power, an utility spell like Prescience or Telekine Dome seems most lucrative.

I'd probably say prescience.
If Lorgar is standing back in a firing line and protecting multiple squads, then Telekine Dome might work better, but since he and the melta squad are off on their own, you might as well help them as much as you can.
Of course, you do have the option to alter this on the fly since neither powers nor veteran tactics are fixed - if inclined, you can take Sniper on everyone and Telekine Dome and just form up into a 30-strong firing line (if facing a mechanicus battle-automata force slinging mauler bolt cannon shells at you this might be sensible).
I'd agree on leaving fearless be. It's worth it's weight in gold for most legions, but even without Lorgar you're nigh unshakeable. With him it's just ridiculous.
Yeah - it's going to be 'extremes' armies you have trouble with.
