Drone without a Controller

Hi there, I'm planning to get a new Tau army going, however, I only have £70 to do so, so far what I'm thinking of buying is:

Ethereal - £10
50pts, has Invoke Elements, which seems really cool

Fire Warriors Strike Team - £30
159 pts when upgraded, I understand that these are the Tau's staple unit

Pathfinder Team - £20
238 points when upgraded, have the markerlights which are great

With the remaining £10 I was thinking of buying some paints. The problem with the list above is that there's no real tank killing stuff (and i'll be playing against Astra Militarum a lot), however, if I exchange the pathfinders for a broadside, would it be worth it? To be honest I'd just appreciate your ideas on what I should get with £70 btw, I don't NEED paints, just units .

Thanks in advance

I'd probably suggest the infiltration cadre box set for £65. Comes with rules for its own formation and you get more for your money than you do with what you've come up with

Plus the ethereal on hover drone looks awesome.

You get some different units to play with like the stealth team for example. A bit of jump shot jump. Very good to get used to as its Tau! It's what we do! A piranha for different tactics and a pathfinder squad. :-).
You've then got a 5er left and with that I suggest MAGNETS! Magnetise all the options it saves buying even more models for different load outs and gives you the chance to find what works best for you.
My suggestion for your budget anyway :-)
Hope this helps

If you only have £70 to spend then go to a different retailer for Warhammer other than Games Workshop! I never buy models from the GW website, I use either ebay (really great for buying cheap units, magnets, brand new box sets for a discount) or Wayland Games (offers a 20% discount on almost everything).

Don't upgrade pathfinders with anything at all, they die easily and are much better for just using as markerlights. Also don't use a big squad of 10. It would be better to use 2 basic squads of 5 which is only 110 points, allowing you much more room for other units.

From a website like Wayland Games you can buy a Cadre Fireblade, fire warrior team, pathfinder team and a broadside battlesuit for £73.60 (just worked this out myself) with free shipping for the order which is great. Alternatively, just have a look on ebay for stuff you want etc
