Subject: Acceptable Count As Unit for Thunderwolf Cavalry

Hello everyone, I have decided to pull the trigger on constructing a Space Wolf Horus Heresy army. That being said I am a huge fan of the Thunderwolf Cavalry models and won't lie but I am definitely disappointed to hear the rumors that they won't be incorporated into the Horus Heresy universe. However that being said I still really want to run them and have been pouring over Forgeworld looking for acceptable conversions or count as units to run them as which I have narrowed them down to either jetbike squads or outrider squads. I honestly don't know which would be better so if anyone could provide some insight or even mention other units I haven't mentioned would be great. Thank you for your responses!

We don't know if they will be in the FW books or not. We'll have to wait for book 7 or 8 to find out.
I would imagine that people would have a problem with you using your Thunderwolves as Jetbikes, though. They look nothing alike and have completely different rules.

well, I'm glad their not there (the space wolves' fetish wasn't fully developed yet ) but for the time being I doubt anyone would be to upset with the Idea, I would run it past your opponent first though.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

I'd avoid using jetbikes, the rules are massively different. The power armour dude on a giant melee wolf doesnt accurately represent a flying 2+ save bike with a heavy weapon. That is unless you intend to convert suitable heavy weapons onto your wolves to represent what they are actually armed with otherwise you're going to run into no end of confusion.

Since there are no rules currently for wolves there are a couple of things you could do for the time being.
Word Bearers: take deamon Allies and use bloodcrushers, though not as good as the strangely cheaper thunderwolves, it would be a ok proxie for the time being. You could also use gal vorbak as wulfen for the time being.
Alternatively use the standard Legion army list and take furious charge as your stand in until you get the wolves, not a great idea but you limited on options at the moment.

If they are included, I wouldn't depend on them being much more than a jet bikes performance. They'd also probably be very expensive.
