Quick question,
I have acquired a series of resin 'swamps' at a bargain price from eBay. These are the terrain pieces produced by GF9 as part of their 'Battlefield in a Box' series:
I am in the process of flocking the edges and want to eventually add scenic water to them rather than having a matt, dry appearance.
So the question: What would you recommend I use to produce the water effects? Bear in mind price will play a factor. I don't want to spend £18 for a bottle of 'Woodland Scenics Water Effects' that I will probably use only a tiny amount of.
Is PVA a cheap, effective alternative? Or have you had success with other materials?

Are the swamps rubberised like their roads and some of their other terrain or is it a solid piece of inflexible wood or hard foam?

Vallejo gloss varnish in a couple of thin layers will work okay.
Also flock after the water dries, or you'll likely never get all the stray bits out of your water.

I must admit I've not had any experience with their roads. The swamps are rather inflexible and I assume some type of resin though I may be wrong.

Varnish sounds like a good idea. As for the flock in the varnish I'm not too bothered, I was intending on putting some tufts of grass in the water too as I'm intending it to be boggy with vegetation in it.

I used resin to amazing effect. It's cheap and I was able to find it at my local Michael's. I used it to make swamp bases for a friends army and they turned out absolutely perfect.
