As the title says, is betrayl at calth a good buy for someone wanting to get back into the marins again, plus loving the older mk armour types, is it decent value?

Yes.

Assuming you plan on using even part of the contents.

It is a very good deal. Compare it to the last Marine Battleforce put out. You get triple the amount of models for only a little more money, and you also get a decent board game out of it. It is most certainly worth it for Marine players (heck, even CSM could use it with some kitbashing)

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

excellent buy.

Even for just use in 40k, its an excellent buy. Only weak point is the dread, the rest is gravy.

I can attest to CSM using it with some kitbashing!... Really - it's a great deal for the price.. And, as a CSM player with a bits bin- it was awesome!!! A great supplement to an army- or a great starting point!... On top of that- you get a cool board game!

Essentially you're buying the 3 squads of marines and a Chaplain, and getting the Terminator captain, Cataphractii Terminators and the Contemptor Dread for free.

And the Marines have more than just a missile launcher and a plasma gun for equipment too.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

It's a good buy. GW seems to flood the community with cheap Tactical squads and ruin their price for a single box of Tacticals.
