Hi Guys, my gaming group are doing a building campaign where you start a new army at 500 pts and go up by 200 a fortnight, what would people run in a 500pt iron hands army?

It highly depend on what you have. Normally iron hands favor heavy armor so if you had a sicaran I'd tell you to pick it up and give him the schism of mars legacy of glory plus LC sponsons. Sure, it chugs 200pts but any tank it sees will go boom (and regular infantry will just outright die). As for infantry my recomendation (although not very fluffy) is to pick up 2 scout squads with camocloaks and sniper rifles (they are wonderful against TEQs, since with only a single 6 you can almost guarantee to return half their pointcost, and a six isn't THAT rare) and a libby that rolls on telepathy/divination. You're left with a couple of point that you could either spend in more boys (I still recomend scouts) or a bit more armor (preferably a rhino, they are cheap and serve as good objective holders when it comes to targets far away from your position).

Scouts are actually fluffy for Iron Hands. They still have an active Scout Company, along with Libbies and Chaplains.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Not fluffy in the sense that they actually gun more often than not for manly powered-armor-clad marines ready to shoot the hereteks to death.

Maybe something along the lines of 3 small tactical squads in rhinos with a HQ. Gives you a good start towards a demi-company and will be good for capping objectives.
