Greetings everyone

I'm going to eventually be embarking on a noble, if small, foray into 30k, fielding my legion as Blood Angels of course.

I know Blood Angels have not yet received their Legion rules as yet, and only have one Relic that I'm aware of in the form of a Sword. (What book has this Relic in it, also?)

I'm seeking the required rules to build a 30k force; points values, options, list building information such as restrictions etc. I know certain HQ models unlock rules and such for your army similar to USR's (Drop Pod Assault being one), but I'd like to know what book(s) have the basic "Space Marine Legion" rules in them and conversely, which options are the best to represent the Blood Angels in 30K pending the Legion receives its own proper rules similar to the already released Legions such as Ultramarines, etc.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone, and take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

The Crusade Army list book has the generic legion list in it, alongside the generic legion rules.

The Istvaan legions book has the unique units for the legions that were at Istvaan.

The Horus Heresy Book 4 has the rules for the current relics in it (the generic and legion specific ones).

Legions without their own rules can pick furious charge or stubborn as their legion specific rule.

Also note that the next HH book due early next year (Horus Heresy: Retribution) will also contain the Legion rules for Blood Angels, as well as 2 unique Rites of War for them.

Excellent, so I'd need the Crusade Army book, and Horus Heresy Book 4 to have relic rules, plus Furious Charge (of the two, that one I prefer) as the Legion specific rule.

Thank you for that, I appreciate the info.

As for building the army, Fielding a Praetor (Captain/commander) and giving him a Rite of War that complements the army and Furious Charge, specifically, Angel's Wrath.for access to hit and run/lots of Jump Infantry.

How would one go about building an effective, legal list usig the above scenario?

I would assume Storm Eagles with Tactical Squads inside for the compulsory troops, a Praetor with a Jump Pack and a few relics sprinkled in perhaps, plus a Chaplain as well with a Jump Pack, and a few big squads of jump pack marines to round things out with a skimmer or two?

Does this sound competitive or at the very least fun? I lik the concept and would love to hear if there are other, or alternative ways to play Blood Angels effectively in the Horus Heresy setting.

Thanks for the assistance & hope to see more input soon. Take it easy.

Really?

Interesting. I had not heard this. I'll be waiting to make any big purchases till I see those rules, then. Thanks for the info & heads up on it!

I forgot to say one thing though... whoops.
While they'll get rules and Rites, they won't get any Characters or Unique Units.

When Blood Angels get their own campaign book (however long that takes... probably at least a year out, most likely longer than that) they'll get their units and characters.

Legion Assault squads are troops choices, so you don't even need tacticals in Storm Eagles if you don't want them.

You can give Praetors virtually every item you can imagine, so you can put him on a jetbike if you really want (and still fits in with your ROW). Chaplains are a bit of a weak choice for the same reason they are in regular 40k, although librarians are much more expensive than their 40k counterparts.

Assault Squads get the usual plasma pistol/flamer every 5 guys with the additional caveats of a size of 10-20 instead of 5-10 and a power weapon option as well.

I'll have to look into the assault squad option then as the primary source of my infantry, and I'll likely still run a 20 man squad of Tacticals in a Storm Eagle, for objective grabbing coupled with close air support.

More research will be done, but I'm liking what I'm seeing here.

Thanks for the info Krellnus. Much obliged.

Take it easy.
