So I'm starting a tomb kings army and am interested in their fluff. I want to allign them with my order army and know that in older warhammer editions tomb kings actually fought for the armies of light. What was the reasoning behind them being good guys? Knowing that will help me tie my two armies together. Thanks all you loremasters out there.

They were never the good guys, they fought for themselves. The only honourable mention is when they fought nagash to keep him from the black pyrmid but was about their own land. The setra got broken apart and nagash took the tomb guard and made the new undead unit.

After that the were gone except for mentioning nagash still using them with a mention like. There were those far old still holding the shield of the lost empire.

Before the end times they just fought each other, and the odd raider. Then in 8 th they mention they are trying to reclaim loss treasures by traveling to different lands like brit and ogre mountain.

Basically fluff wise.

They came first. Nagash first born son wanted to be king, when their dad died they where givin a offering for the tomb 3 dark elves. He took them and hid them learned everything from them he could. After that he killed them and then his brother, which gave him e title the usurper. He gave the gift of immortality to a few to help rule ie. Archan the black. The other kings went to over throw him they starter to lose because he imprissoned the link between the gods and the human world the now queen.

He built the black pyrmaid to help gather the magic engerys from all around then he lost to the kings. He fled to the mountains and found a nice deposit of wrp stone, the skaven wanted it and then they fought. Nagash was lossing again so poisoned the river that feed to the kingdoms. They all started to die. He captured the guy who orginally beat him, the skaven found out about the big spell gave a warp sword to the prisoner. After nagash cast the spell to bring all the kings and so on back to life the prisoner killed him.

After nagash died those he awoke had their own will back and started to fight each other for who would be boss. Setra woke up all bowed and done.

Before the skaven the Lamia people got the books of nagash made a bastrd version of the immortal potion and created the vampirre race. This was quick typed pn tablet sry for spell g and grammer. Takes 49 secounds from mewrittng it to it showing up. Then when i try and fix smethng everything after get ereased.

After that The tomb king books mention that some kings think they are still alive others realise they are dead. They mention some kings get their servants to bring the, food and wine then stair at it forgetting what to do with it til it rots away. Setra made most go back to sleep until they where needed. Only setra knows how to do some of the magic the rest count on the lich priests to raise the dead. When the liche priests is commanded or so on ordered to, he will awaken the legion of the king he serves. The lich priests worked in the same line as nagash perserving the dead and such they are immortal beings but they kinda rotted away, they are alive but not really. All the statues and such are brought to life by rituals from the lich priests and empowered qith the souls of the dead.

Great response. Also, shucks. I was hoping I was remembering correctly. I'm trying to cook up a fluff reason why I could have undead spectres piloting sigmarite chariots and including them as allies with my stormcast army.

I was inspired by some ghostly paint schemes I saw and the scene in lord of the rings where Aragorn conscripts the undead to fight for him. I need to read the newest books where they reintroduce Negash into AoS.

They could join up with sigmars boys to over throw nagash. There has been no mention of what they are upto in the new AoS world/s. So you can say setra "or your king" joined up with them to kill of Nagash and become the ruler of the undead.

Why do they fight others? because their price is simple sigmar helps them if they help him :p.

I dig it. I'm stoked to arm these Tomb Kings with Sigmarite Chariots; a gift from Sigmar to seal their alliance.

I have been reading up on the tomb kings and really dig that they are undead but still have their sounds and free will in tact. It makes me look at them in a totally new light.

Thanks for the brainstorming help!

I think it all depends on the attitude of the Tomb King who is leading your army. Settra is depicted as being arrogant, selfish and bitter beyond belief. He hates the world and is jealous of the living. So he's a pretty bad dude who does bad things.

But if your Tomb King was a good dude in life, and his character carried over into death, there's no reason he can't be a force for good. Despite his bad luck of being resurrected by Nagash as a mummy, maybe he still wants to do the right thing in his unlife. It's limited only by your imagination, whether your army is fighting in WHFB or AoS.

Thanks pojko! I'm new to tomb kings so the lore insight is super useful. I think I'll run with setras rules but cook up my own lore for my eternally rightious tomb king. Thanks again everyone!
