So my friend and I played last night and I had my possessed guys locked in cc with his ogryns and he decided to have his guardsman squad shoot at my termies on the other side of the fight. They could draw line of sight perfectly which is why I allowed it but the thing we were caught up on was the ruling of what modifiers there are when firing through a friendly squad. Or can it even be done?

Thoughts?

It's "covered" by the Cover Save rules regarding shooting through an intervening unit. It doesn't care if the intervening unit(s) is friendly, enemy, in combat or out of combat.

Do note that Templates cannot be placed to cover any unit in Combat or friendly model, even if the target is beyond them.

5+ cover save conferred to the targeted unit I believe.

I'm pretty sure if you fire through another squad (either yours or your opponents) then the unit being shot at gets a cover save. Not sure of the top of my head if it's 4+ or 5+
