Having seen the film, I'm thinking as X-Wing players it isn't looking too good, it's a cracking movie but was somewhat lacking in 'new' ships as we only appear to have a revised Falcon, Ren's Shuttle and the 2 man FO Tie

How do folks think this bodes for our beloved spacesheep game ?

There was the Resistance Shuttle / Lander as well.

Hopefully there will be more ships in the next film.

Yeah, I was disappointed that there wasn't some new version of an A-wing or Y-wing.

Ren's shuttle would be a good ship, along with the 2-seater TIE/FO, but then that leaves the Rebels lacking a new ship.

The Cross Sections book makes mention of a B-Wing Mk II and how Leia's Shuttle's cockpit was taken from one, so they can do that at well.

Beyond the TIE/SF, I don't see them releasing many new Trilogy ships until we get closer to Episode VIII, which is only a year and five months away give or take.

After seeing the film it also seems kind of wrong that Poe Dameron only has a pilot skill of 8.

I thought you liked PTL Poe.

That tracking shot of Poe attacking (and hitting!) individual storm troopers is sick... the space that he made those attacks in is seriously unlike anything on this planet.

There's a book with all the concept art and such and it shows a much beefier version of a Y-Wing. It looked awesome and I want...no, NEED that.

I could see the Resistance shuttle being a Rebel Lambda-Equivalent.

A joint Scum/Resistance Falcon Re-Release with you-know-who and some scum pilots, plus crew cards for Rey and Finn. Throw in a new "Epic" Falcon Title and we're golden.

The Special Forces TIE and Kylo Rens shuttle would bring us up to 4 ships- 2 F/O, 1 Resistance, and a split Resistance/Scum set. This is enough for there to be a Wave of ships. Although First Order beats Resistance in terms of numbers, Rebels as a whole will have an extra ship over imperials as of Wave 8, so this would be restoring balance (to the force).

I'm thinking we might also see a slew of new material, maybe for S&V, in the Rogue One movie...

Am still kind of miffed about the Resistance only having X-Wings. Guess they are a pretty ramshackle operation.

in the novelization it makes it pretty clear that the Resistance is really small. Much smaller than the Alliance ever was.
Maybe now that the Republic's capitol was blown up people will give the Resistance a bit more support?

I could see the third movie featuring the Resistance being fully supported by the Republic fleet, but until then I think we may have to settle for the T-70.

I'm hoping. The story for the 'resistance' and the Republic being what it is, and the the First Order having destroyed several worlds and a star. The republic will need to assemble a fleet to deal with them.

I wonder if anything could be done with either of the Resistance transport or Kylo Ren's shuttle. The latter especially would present some packaging difficulties.

The resistance transport is possible - it's essentially the bastard offspring of a YT-series freighter and a B-wing.

Ren's shuttle's upper wings supposedly retract into the lower wings (according to the 'cross sections' book they're sensor arrays and slid in to protect themselves) but it's still damn huge.

There's also the first order's 'landing boat', but I'm not sure exactly how you'd use that in game...

Probably in a similar way to the Lambda shuttle.
Though there wouldn't really be a point.

I wonder if FFG will eventually make some ship designs based off some of the unused concept art for ships?

Kylo's shuttle looks to be slightly taller than the Lambda, but not as long front to back. I haven't seen the Lambda in person, but if that fits in the box with a little room to spare then I'd hazard a guess that Ren's ship would.

I can't find any pics of this new Y-wing model on google, only a toy of a light bomber variant that (from the accompanying action figure) is used in the Rebels period rather than TFA (pretty cool, kind of an A-wing/Y-wing combo, 1 seater with an Astromech). How different is the design of the new-but-unused one from the existing OT Y-wing? And are there any new variants of other ships?

This could also be some earlier concept art for an unused ship too, not entirely sure.


Certainly some cool designs though. The 2-pilot X-Wings, J-Wing and the unnamed ship in the 1st image are my favourite 3. (And this is coming from some one who usually prefers the design of Imperial ships)

Someone seems to be a fan of Asymmetric designs and blindspots...

That TIE shuttle looks cool though, as does the Scissor-X.

There are 6 new ships in this film.

We've already scene the TIE/FO and T-70 X-wing.

There is the TIE/SF, Kilo Ren's Shuttle, and the Resistence shuttle.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but their was a 6th ship that was in the film. Remember that Han looked into a video screen on his freighter (Armada possibility) and saw the mercenaries that he owed money to on the screen. That is a scum possibility. Not shown is also the ship that the KanjiClub thugs showed up in so that is a possible 7th ship.

I don't see them releasing another Falcon model. And it is hardly a new and improved version. It had been sitting on Jakku for years. Doesn't really sound like it was upgraded. I do see FFG releasing the cards with another release so that we can get a Rey pilot on the Falcon and a Finn crew card. Kind of like how they released the scum 'starter' box including alternate pilots for the Firespray and Hawk.

Yeah, we see the ship that the Guavian Death Gang show up in for a couple of seconds. From what we see of it, the ship appears to be sleek and mean looking (also, kinda cool in my opinion).

Didn't Rey refer to it as a quadjumper? She seemed to indicate it could get them off-planet.
