Just started playing with Hellstorm Template and wanted to be clear how wound allocation works when multiple units are under the template. Does the closest unit / model take all the wounds until it is destroyed. Are wound resolved seperately for each unit. What about mixed targets that have both wounds and armour penetration rolls. Please sight rules references if possible.

The rules for template weapons don't cover what happens when multiple units are hit.

The rules for blast weapons do - confirming that each unit with a model under the blast marker receives one hit for each model wholly or partially covered.

Most people use that same principle for templates.

Roll to wound (a number of dice equal to the number of models in the unit under the template) separately for each unit so wounds go to different units. So if it hits 3 different units which each had 5 models underthe template, choose a unit, roll to wound (so roll 5 dice) then do amour saves and whatnot until everything is all done with that unit. Then move on to the next unit and so on until all is resolved.
