So I've been a fan of warhammer 40k for some time, I've always loved the lore, atmosphere, and the many video games associated with the franchise. It wasnt until recently that my brother and I decided to pursue the tabletop variant of the franchise (he's the one who got REALLY interested and dragged me into it, now im a little obsessed). The price factor of the game has always been a deal breaker for us but we've been easing into the hobby as to manage the costs, and its been pretty fun collecting models, we plan on painting sometime soon.

Anyways, about myself, I really like chaos, nurgle specifically (i also enjoy khorne a little bit). I've always liked things in fiction that centered on the melancholy of plague, sickness, and ruin, and I really like the paternal nature of nurgle himself. I'm also a fan of nids and orks, guess I'm really fond of vast numbers of rage and savagery. I think the forces of the imperium are super cool and all, but for some reason the idea of actually playing as them is kinda dull to me.

I like to draw and tend to draw fanart, well I used to, been a long time since I last drew anything because of reasons, and Warhammer 40k has been a huge inspiration for my artwork.

I'm super psyched to get my army together so my brother and I could do some skirmishes together, perhaps find a place to have games with others. It's all really exciting.

I've been using the forums for a few days now and it's been very informative and helpful, I plan on posting around here for quite a bit.

Hi. Welcome to Dakka

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Howdy. It is always cool to see more art! Would really be cool to see a blog about a player just getting into the game who has the strong ties to the fluff/ video games that many of us "veterans" do!

Greetings!

If it helps, start off small and set a goal of completing a squad + character each and only play with painted models. It helped me motivate myself to complete more models

Welcome to 40k and DakkaDakka, I was in your shoes about a year and a half ago, I just started small, and pick an aspect of the game that really interested me. If funds are an issue just make some homemade terrain, its always fun and cheap to make, and can make the game more interesting. I found a good economic way of enjoying the game, is kitbashing as well. Have fun and good luck, and if your looking for an army to join, the Astra Militarum is looking for you.

-Me: Don't tell the commissar but i left my Imperial Infantrymans Uplifting Primer at home, but I do carry a folded Texas flag behind my front plate.
-Friend: Texas flag gives you AV14 all around.

A lot of my fanart is kinda scattered around, some of it is in a form that i dont think many people here would appreciate, and some was lost along with my old computer. But here's one of my favorite i managed to hold on to http://pre04.deviantart.net/9777/th/pre/f/2012/011/1/d/warhammer_40k_plague_marine_by_dread555-d4lwajl.png

Definitely chaos, i've got a nurgle themed army in the works. My brother has his eyes on the adeptus mechanicus, and has several units of skitarii.

I'd love to draw more fanart, it's just been really hard motivating myself to get back into it. Can't say i'm terribly familiar with the "fluff" of 40k, I know a bunch of general things but delving deep into factions and details isn't my forte.

To everyone else, thanks a bunch for the welcome, the website has been very helpful in getting this hobby going.
