Hey all, getting back into the game and trying to piece together an army that I'll be able to flexibly swap chapter tactics around with. With that in mind I've gone for a fairly bold colour scheme, and was hoping for some criticisms of the look I've gone for!

In the following pictures I still need to dust the wheels and front part of the bike, as well as apply nicks and scratches to both the bike and the rider.

As it is I suck at getting whites to be nice and flat, and need to work on getting the lenses coloured much cleaner.

Thanks for your time!

And sorry about the photo quality, phone cameras etc...

Lookin' good! I'm fond of teal, but I don't get much chance to play with it as a main colour.

A few tidbits / nitpicks:

The vents (spherical ball bits on either side) on the backpack look like they've missed being painted metal, don't know if that was intentional or not.

The trim colour on the shoulder pads - normally they're done so the whole trim is the same colour - including the underside and the side closest to the marine, here's an example of what I mean:

Might just be the images, but looking a bit 'gritty' on the white (particularly the pad trims), so I'd suggest thinning it with a medium (like GW's Lhamian Medium) or something to lower the surface tension (tiny tiny amount of dish soap).

But all in all, excellent stuff, keep it up!

You're 100% right about the white Quanar, thank you so much! I was stressing about having such gross, lumpy whites across my whole army, as thinning my paint with water wasn't having any noticeable effect. Duly noted about the trim on the pads, will update with the changes and some battle damage after the Christmas rush is over!

Small update! Cleared up the whites, using Quanars advice and a bottle of medium. They're still a bit lumpy, but the rest of them will be nice and smooth! Not sure how I feel about the dust on the bike/rider. I simply dry brushed in streaks from the ground up at about 45 degrees roughly where you'd expect dust to go, but I'm not sure how much I like it. Thoughts?

Have to say, while not a fan of marines I like this, do have a soft sport for teal as a colour though, the white helps it not look like you were aiming for ultramarines and missed.

bronze/brass effect on the weapons goes nicely with them as well.

Nottinghamshire

Very nice colour combo.
Are you using the current range's white? Mine are gross in the pot, I've resorted to going elsewhere to be honest.

Thanks for the comments guys! @Buttery Commissar I'm just using standard Scar White thinned with Lahnian Medium on a base coat of Eshin Grey if I remember correctly. Takes 2-3 coats but the end result is worth it.

Got another question for you all. I've modelled up my bike spothocery and happen to have some parts from the raven guard bike kit, so he has a robed helmet and robed legs. I'm set on given veterans white helmets, so what should I paint the robes to not be too jaunty?

Excellent question. I usually go with complimentary colours (Or colours near complimentary colours) to really make paint schemes pop - but do be careful, because if you do make them too strong they look gaudy and gross. So I'd go with a darker orange or deep red, but it really is up to you.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I considered red/orange, however I feel like that would look too Ultramariney/Librarianey, I was thinking perhaps a leathery brown, but that doesn't really fit the aesthetic of the force I want. Perhaps simply a darker blue?
