So with the arrival of Mont'ka one of the formations available is the Psykanna division which consists of
- 1 Primaris
- 3 Wyrdvane squads, 5 man minimum
- 1-3 Commissars
Now the cool things about them are
-Attached Commissar causes wyrdvane squads to harness on 2+, and stops peril by blamming a random wyrdvane.
-for every 5 wyrdvanes withing 12" of their division's Primaris he gets a additional Mastery level. This means you can have up to
ML 8 Primaris so you're generating 11 warp charges if you max out your wyrdvanes
-The Primaris knows all the powers of all the Wyrdvane squads withing 12" as well
Now with that said. I have a 1250 tourney coming up and I've decided to use this formation to build my force and it will look something like this
Psykanna Division x4
x4 ML2 Primaris psykers
x12 five man Wyrdvane squads
x9 Commissars
Keeping each of the three wyrdvane squads within 12" of its respective Primaris will have me with 32 warp charges if i can keep them alive, with nine of the five man squads harnessing powers on a 2+.
Where I begin to stumble with the list is choosing what disciplines to go with. For those that don't know
IG psykers have access to all disciplines EXCEPT telepathy (If only we did

). I've been looking at Biomancy as it's primaris power provides some good shooting with AP2 and the chance of iron arm on a wyrdvane squads is hilarious to me as it could potentially make them surprisingly killy as could warp speed or endurance to make them hard to shift. Pyromancy seems mediocre, and my usual go-to discipline of Divination seems "meh" without the guard armor and guns to benefit from prescience. That leaves the Telekenisis discipline that has some stand out like telekine dome but also seems rather bland as well. As for Santic and Malific daemonology, they both seen abit risky considering I went for
MSU with the psykers and even one casualty in a squad will lose me a
ML from my primaris. I also want to try my best to take advantage of the Primaris being able to use the powers the wyrdvane's rolled for abit of versatility.
I'm pretty sure that with that many warp charges I can reasonable deny most opponents the psychic phase. But what to do in my phase is what I'm struggling with. So Dakkanaughts what do you think, is there a way to make Psyker guard work?
