How would you guys ally Renegades and Heretics with KDK? I think some plasma guns squads in Chimeras, blob krak grenade squads for assisted combat, or rapier spam would be decent. What do ya'll think?

Hard to say when we don't know the list we would be allying them too.

I play against a guy that uses earthshaker and uh... Lascannon artillery (forgot the name). Really nasty stuff man.

They definitely compliment each other well. KDK are fast, but lack long-range firepower. Renegades are slow, but provide lots of shooting.

Rapier Laser Destroyers are absolutely brutal. Thudd Guns and Earthshakers are also solid. If you don't want to have an expensive kitted out Daemonkin HQ, you could put a base Herald in with the artillery to gain blood tithe whenever they kill stuff, too.

If you run Renegades as your primary detachment you can unlock the Ordnance Tyrant (from Siege of Vraks) and unlimited Zombies, which are, imo, one of the best troop choices in the game. Note that IA:13 has a 0-1 limit on Zombies, while the Vraks list has no such limit.

If you run them as your secondary force, a secondary CAD with 9 Rapier Laser destroyers and some ObSec troops should work well. The Purge detachment (Siege of Vraks) also gives you 4 Heavy Support slots, which is solid.

Edit: I did a tournament report earlier this year from when I brought my Renegade/KDK force to a tournament here if you would be interested in hearing how it's worked for me.

I am considering a dual CAD of ordnance tyrant purge with Daemons. Daemon side will be using a dronestar and screamer star for some fast hard hitters. Troops are 2x3 nurglings and 11 pinkies.

R&H will be bringing an earthshaker artillery, 2 medusa artillery, 2x2 heavy mortars, 3 units of 1 heavy quad launchers. A laser destroyer battery, leman russ exterminator with las+melta upgrades, and 30 zombies.

Hey thanks for the responses! They were both super helpful

So def go for primary CAD renegades and likely a secondary CAD daemonkin? Why is ordance tyrant so good?

My understanding of good renegade units:
-Earthshaker Batteries
-Rapier Laser Destroyers
-Wyverns
-Thud guns?
-Inexpensive Blob units to snag objectives.
Any other units? Is the Battle Tank, for example, any good compared to the Earthshakers?

Where renegades struggle:
-Ignores Cover firepower
-Getting close melta shots
-Close combat?

I think the ignores cover is exactly where Daemonkin excels, since they don't care about cover when they bring the fight to the enemy. Daemonkin also handles the close combat and meltagun combat. I think they complement perfectly. Would the Astra Militarum be a better fit despite being Come the Apoc? My last question is what demagouge devotion should you take?

The latest Siege of Vraks has unlimited Zombies? What do you mean by that?

I thought the only way to get Zombies was from a character that allows for non-compulsatory Zombie troops...

For primary, I'd say renegades and then you fit in Gorepack with LOTS of Bikers.
