Subject: [750] - Dark Eldar - Beginner List

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to everyone here!
Recently, my SO has shown interest in picking up 40k, and she decided that she liked the look of Dark Eldar the most. I've pulled some strings and trades to get her the required books, and a fair amount of models to start her project with. So here's my first go at a beginner list based on models available to her, which includes 70+ Warriors. Looking at the list now, it's light on anti vehicle weapons, though I am recommending Scourge with heat lances on the jump to 1,000 pts.
Realspace Raiders Detachment
HQ
Arhcon - Agonizer, Armour of Misery, Shadow Field, Webway Portal, Soul Trap
-185
Troops
19 Warriors - 2 Splinter Cannons
+ Sybarite - Haywire Grenades
- 205
9 Warriors - Splinter Cannon
+Sybarite - Haywire Grenades
-110
9 Warriors - Splinter Cannon
+Sybarite - Haywire Grenades
-110
Fast Attack
Raider - Splinter Racks
-70
Raider - Splinter Racks
-70
Total: 750
So, should be straightforward enough. The 10 man Warrior squads will jump in the Raiders and run around doing drive-bys. The Archon hangs out in the 20 man squad, and pops up wherever he needs to to harass the enemy.
For the record, when we start playing some matches, I'll most likely be using my infantry Necrons. I won't start with a Decurion, or anything to silly, but just want to get the basics in, and ;expand from there. Any thoughts, or suggestions?

I would suggest dropping the sargents and the haywire grenades in favour of a blaster. Simply for learning terms there is quite a bit of nuance to the use of threat ranges and str 8 weaponry. They can instant death any wraiths or characters you want to bring and reliably knock off a Necron if they hit.
Necrons durability can be rather daunting to a newbie, so having a few weapons that ignore most of it might be encouraging.

Nice to see DE getting some love! I recently picked up DE about 6 months ago and have been able to get in a number of casual and tournament games in, and rather than tell you how to build a list I'll just share with you some ideas that have worked for me.
Number 1 rule I follow when building a list is boys over toys. Just about everything will die to a gentle, bloody sneeze, so dumping points on a single model has always worked out badly for me. Unless you have a unit that can WWP in and smoke an Imperial Knight, Wraithkight etc, I'd either keep your Archon super cheap or simply use a Lheaman from Court of the Archon and give her a Venom. Simple, cheap, maneuverable and can still put out damage. BUT... Web Way Portaling is a one trick pony really, and I've only done it with a unit of Wraithguard with my Eldar allies...
I've gotten much more mileage out of 5 man Venom squads than a Raider gunboat. The raider always seems to keep getting popped and the boys inside end up foot slogging. But remember that if the raider jinks, the passengers are unaffected, so if you're going to run gunboats, do so with Nightshields for a juicier cover save. But watch out for Ignores Cover shooting, that stuff will hurt.
Anti armor can be a serious problem. I personally run 2 Ravagers at extreme range in my backfield. But I've also got two units of Scourages on the way, so I am pursuing that angle. For a lower points game, I'd go with the Scourages for mobile AT. Haywire Blasters seem to be the choice load out. Just strip those hull points. But redundancy is the name of our game, hence my two box order.
Measuring and distance is going to be the most important part of your game. 36" is the standard range for most things I run, so I tend to keep to the board edges, make my opponents move to me and into my field of fire and weather the storm of poison and Dark Lance shots. Very rarely will I move toward the enemy, except when to grab objectives or pressure a flank or point on the opponents line.
On an anti armor side note, I have deep struck a raider with Nightshields full of Trueborn with blasters, and not only landed where I wanted, but the raider survived a full turn of War Convocation shooting in an impressive run of lucky dice rolls. The Blasterborn went on to smoke a Dune Walker (clearing the air for my Razorwing) and stripped a few hullpoints off a Knight before dying under a horrible weight of fire. Despite the fragility of DE, these boys can do some WORK.
Sorry, didn't mean to get so long winded. But I've had a blast with DE and I hope your SO does too. Cheers!

Agonizer on your Archon is not the best option. He isn't really about punching HtH tbh.
I see no Venoms and no Trueborns. Try these squads out - pretty simple concepts and a tried-and-true classic of DE. 5 Trueborns, 3 blisters, Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons, and go s
Nuts.
One of the few really good options left in the book.
Not to mention Trueborns and Kabalite Warriors are pretty much the same miniature.

This is an okay list to just 'learn the basics', but I'm telling you now, Dark Eldar vs Necrons is probably one of the most one sided match-ups of all races. I play Necrons and I introduced my friend to the game, he also chose Dark Eldar as his first race.
Currently I'm on about 12 wins to 0 for the DE. I run the worst lists I can think of vs his competitive Venom spam list and he gets crushed every single time.
If you're just teaching her, don't warrior spam. That's actually extremely strong against Dark Eldar. Run some high Toughness units so she can learn what her poison can do. Run Some Wraiths without a Decurion and they're surprisingly easy for DE to kill.
Dark Eldar, even with Venoms, will always struggle against the sheer amount of saves Necrons get, Decurion or not. I wouldn't recommend a massive blob of kabalite warriors on foot, since just about every Necron weapon will be piercing their armor and auto-killing them, even if it is all she has.
