Hey guys!
As I am painting up my GK units, I am wandering how I should equip them.
Bigger units like Terminators and Dreadknights are going to get magnetized, but magnetizing every marine is going to be tedious and expensive (magnets aren't cheap here). Therefore I would like to get some advice on how to build them so I do not end up having to proxy....
This is what I am planning to buy / also have:
(Red: not owned / Green: owned)
HQ:
1 Librarian
- ML3
- Stormbolter
- Wardingstave
- Domina Liber Daemonica
165 Points
Elite:
5 Purifiers
Not yet built, advice wanted!
- 2x Incinerators
135 points

While the culexus is a great choice against many opponents considering the amount of psychic shenanigans in your list you'll have to be very careful avoiding his 12" bubble

Purifiers are golden with 2x Incies each.
Don't bother with stuff like halberd a etc they are just a waste this edition.
Same for all the other models - only hammers are something.
Don't get me wrong, your army may look nice as modeling example but it doesn't do anything from tabletop perspective. Mono GK armies tend to do this.
What's your gameplan?
Alphastrike things?
With 1 NDK and Terminators which shoot like a squad costing twice less?
Sure, 'ceptors are fun but it's 260 points for 2 flamers 8 bolters and they die next turn.
Purifiers can't even deepstrike on their own.
Footslogging terminators are the worst thing ever. Believe me.
If you want to win, take squads that do something,
2nd Libby, 2nd NDK.
Take some allied with droppods for purifiers. probably meltas too.
Bunker/Bastion with commas so you don't die first turn and can control reserves.
Sry for bashing. Been a GK myself and want to share some of my experience

Purifiers I like stock. They are already expensive marines. Add incinerators, but stock melee swords.
Terminator/ paladins . I put psycannons on models with swords. Again, keeping the price down. 1 per 5 should have a hammer. Rest either swords or halberds for larger threat range and higher str when casting force. Hammer hand is great but take precious warp charges. They will be those who argue with me. I like halberds. Halberds or swords... Falchions are cool in theory but add up quickly.
Interceptors - stock swords with incinerators. They are already expensive. Use those incinerators to flush out pesky cover loving troops. Some times I combat squad both incinerators into the same squad for a teleport double flame.
Another take... I run mine sometimes with 5 guys with falchions and the rest stock or flamers and combat squad them. I put the 5 falchions in one squad and both the incinerators in the other. Use falchions squads as awesome w assault marines. Good at tearing things up and getting into combat. They mostly make up their points but they are fun!
Storm Raven - I usually run the same layout and if I have extra points I add hurricane bolters (magnetized). Don't neglect the muscles on these, they are great. The concussive shots have won me many key battles and Allowed my dreadknights to swing first many times. Good synergy. I will also Ally in inquisition or now a company command squad (Cadian battle group) with meltas if I have the points to ride along.
I run my dreadknights the same way. Sometimes I switch out the sword for the hammer if I am in need of 5 points elsewhere... But sword is usually a better buy.
If you get a 3rd DK , then experiment with a Psilencer.
I've ran a similar list before with the culexus assassin and did very well against some eldar. I shut down their psychic game and actually used my psychic charges to power his shots. I had him pumping out a crazy amount of str 5 ap1 shots a turn. Had him hunting wraiths with that gun. It Was great . He prob brought down 1/3 of my opponent's army himself. He Also shuts down invisibility shenigans that eldar/demons/death stars like to use that grey knights usually struggle with. Also good at taking down those pesky 2+ armor saves we usually struggle with. This list looks weird on paper but works in the game.
Would suggest finding room for a 2nd dreadknight. They work better in pairs. Happy hunting!

Same basic thing as others on the dreadknight. I like to think of this way when looking at dudes like dreadknights and the like.
One is a target, two is a threat.

Thanks for the advice guys!
I am in some kind of moral dilemma.
OFC I want to win, but on the other hand I dont want too much cheese in my lists.
In friendly games against my brother I play DA and Tau and they usually just wreck my brothers nids turn 2.
I dont want the same to happen with the GKs ;-)
BUT: against Eldar, Dark Eldar etc. I will field full power grey knights, possibly 2 NDKs or 1 NDK/1 Imperial Knight.
I will put my Purifiers together wielding swords now.
since I will need more incinerators anyways, I might as well buy another box to add some Demonhammer (2 normal Hammer guys, 2 Hammer Knights of the Flame 1 additional Incinerator) just to keep the option to wield hammers.
Or should I place an order just for incinerators at my trusty bits shop?

Mebbe put some falchions in there. With a low model count bcos of Gk the extra attackcan go a long way. Just something to think about, are you playing the community, or have you got a friend (or group) that you will be playing as if the latter is the case you could do some proxying and make the army look cool.

proxying is definitly an option, nobody in my gaming group is killing me if I proxy a little - I dont like it myself I want my army to represent what is going on, for me and my opponent. I forget a lot of stuff from my own armies, so this helps me a lot to remember everything. Maybe I should take the long way and magnetize even the smaller guys...

Personally i would make the paladins regular termi's. For almost the same price you can get the same number of wounds while doubling your shooting and pysichic points.
as for equipping them i do a psycannon and hammer per 5, with flaccions to taste.

shunt is fun. i think interceptors are far better than purifiers tbh. unless you ally in drop pods. but then your purifiers are very expensive.

Don't know where you are but you can get some great prices for magnets on eBay. Also it's been said a few times but running 2x dreads are the way to go, I would even suggest removing the assassin to do so. It's been debated a ton and there really isn't a worthwhile assassin, by that I mean one that will make up their points more times than not by the end of the game because I agree some can hold a battlefield role.
