So, just a quick question here peeps: Does the 'no LoW in games under 2000 points apply to regular 40K as well as Horus Heresy games?

I just want to check as my friend wants a game at 1850 and he has mentioned that neither of us can bring a LoW as we are under the 2K limit or somesuch but I am sure that only applies to Horus Heresy games.

Yes, those rules only apply if you are playing using the Horus Heresy's Age of Darkness rules (unfortunately, imho).

Well if you agreed to play with no LoW, you really shouldn't.
Next time do so, but it'd be a bit of a dick move to turn up with a LoW after your opponent stated no LoW before you agreed to play him.

Well, we agreed to no LoW last game.... And he brought a Typhon.
This game we have not actually agreed to no LoW, he just stated that as we are playing at less than 2K we cannot bring a LoW.

Why do you continue playing with someone who does TFG stuff like that?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Ask what a LOW entails, but regardless you two need to agree on things or you get to face the consequences of frustration, not us.

Lack of opponents... Or should that be lack of opponents whom will not table me in turn two. GK, hardcore SM, Eldar and Tau are all rife locally.

@troa: I will try that.

It's only another slot. Balance is always down to the actual unit. The Wraithknight is just as broken as a Heavy Support as it is a Lord Of War.

Depends entirely on the LoW you choose. Marneus Calgar and a Warlord Titan both occupy that slot, but one of which is far more agreeable to play against. Personally, I have no problems with whatever anyone wants to bring, but some people just seek to throw their toys out of the pram when they see any LoW, no matter how 'OP' they might assume it to be.

Well, I have almost finished scratch building a Baneblade and I also have a Shadowsword/etc chassis so it would probably be one of those two which I brought.
I do also know that my opponent is bringing three formations too so it is a big consideration right now.

They really need to divide the Lord of War catagory into Heroes" and "Warmachines". But that would take caring.
