I am now collecting 30k Emperor's Children - Hooray! Another financial drain! - and now that my BaC set is all painted and I've played a bit with it I want to expand on it.

If it makes a difference in what you recommend I have built it as: Two HQ - same as out of the box, two 10 man Tactical Squads, one Heavy Support squad with Missile Launchers, one tactical support squad with Plasma Guns, one Cataphractiii Terminator Squad all with dual Lightning Claws and a Contemptor Dreadnought with Kheres Assault Cannon and a Power Fist.

Unless you can suggest something better my current plan is to get a Rhino or Two, a Land Raider (Suggestions as to what pattern) for the Cataphractii's, and if I can find another BaC bx somewhere get another of them.

So there you have it, any help as to what to get, and what takes priority (As I am but a mere mortal and could never afford so much at once) is much appreciated.

Well, the box provides a decent start and your army looks fine so far.
Maybe you could get another contemptor for cheap via eBay. Two Rhinos for the Tacticals would be fine.
The Primarch should also be on your list.
In view of a LR, you could go with the Phobos. It's just the normal CSM LR. The Termies can hold their own.
A good buy would be a Spartan which could transport the Termies and the Primarch.
Sicarian tanks also nice but expensive.

If you're getting the plastic rhinos or land rider get the chaos ones so you have more pintle weapon options. Lord know I'll probably never use the PILE of hunter killer missiles from the loyalist accessory sprues I've gone through over the years. I'd happily trade them for havoc missiles and combiweapons if I could.

The armored proteus is pretty dang sweet and it looks good but, imo but, there are better variants out there. Have fun making your choice.

more dudes for your tactical squads. In 30k 10 marines are the "equivalent" to 10 guardsmen in terms of the firepower being thrown around. maybe get a second calth box and double up on what you've already made? (2 20-man tac. squads, 10-man terminator, 6/7-man ML squad, 6-7 man plasma squad) 2 contemptors is one elite slot.

The problem with going for transports is, depending on your meta, even Land Raiders are taken out fairly easily, let alone rhino's. Also, maybe you should look into the EC's special units + named characters *cough and primarch cough*

All in all: build what looks cool and plays fun, NOT what is the most OP
