Terra Dominatus!

The beginning, the home world, a temple the size of a planet.

Billions of Pilgrims live in endless queues, waiting to worship, billions more toil endlessly to keep the grinding Administratum functioning. Nothing is left of Terra’s former natural glory, the seas boiled away many millennia ago and the soil is utterly barren. Some in the Terran Mechanicus think of wood as a Xenos life form. Every square meter of the planets surface is Incredibly layered through endless growth of it’s population and built habitat. Ancient cultures and civilizations live in its labyrinth catacombs, locked in levels miles beneath sun light and in history. The noble houses soar to the skies atop the massive hive spires. These giant towers cover all of Terra apart from the Himalayans and the chamber of Astronomican carved in to it.

Terra is the heart of the imperium, the beacon of light for all of mankind. Its epicenter the Imperial Palace is an endless, black hive of forbidden technology and subterranean passages delving deep within the bowels of the planet. Deep inside resides the god Emperor, a carcass of untold power. He sits on the Golden Throne, an ancient miracle without which the Imperium of man would collapse. But time is running out.

As the light of the Astronomican grows dimmer, Techpriests discover irreparable failures in the Golden Throne,. Desperate, the Tech-Priests and Radical Inquisitors journey into the Webway and strike a dark bargain. A secret war for the fate of all humanity rages. Welcome to an adventure for the sagas,

PDH, Master converter and Genius GM from Preston, Thistle, (he needs no introductions, does he…) and Migs of Iron Sleet have launched on a collaborative project to study Terra unlike ever before. And we have our multi-talented friends to join us. All working towards the summer for an insane +I+munda game set in the birth place of man, Terra. The plan is to push beyond the obvious, to let each person explore the deepest boundaries of their imagination and have a ton of fun. We hope to inspire the inter webs the way the original Jade Vessel did, but at a much much more evolved scale and quality.

This will be one collective log with many posters participating in the madness.… And yes, there are insane models and stories in the works from Kari’s nobel breast feeders to Stefan’s Mechanicus engineered killer fauna. We seriously intend to create a gaming board that captures Terra’s scale too Ever wonder what a forgotten, dystopian greenroom looks like? Or the massive stairs to one of Terra's most ancient chapel?

Enough of my ramblings for now. The better way to introduce things is definitely brand new art from John Blanche. Created for the Pilgrym Project. It will be used as key inspiration for the Table to be created.



Attached is also some random gems of Pinterest, to set the mood and your expectations. I’ve tried to find art that fits somewhat with how I imagine Terra and tweaked the colors and vignetting a little to tie them together. If you happen to know the artists, please let me know so I can credit these talented chaps correctly. While working on Illuminati Aquila my mind wondered around the vastness and grandeur of Terra, trying to let the home world guide the creation of the characters.

Then we started talking about this Pilgrym madness and as a byproduct how incredible it would be to genuinely model the scale of Terra on a table. A few were skeptic, which only inspired me more. Others were instantly hooked, and in describing their projects and settings ended up creating a buffet of great ideas.

The table will have four distinct areas. I've made a quick sketch - just notes really, the end result should be way more integrated an interesting, this is sort of a crude floor plan only.

The Chapel - presented by massive marble stairs up to it, covering most of the table
the Botanicarium - inspired to create a gorgeous backdrop for what FPOA and Jakob are working on.
the Bridge in to city - so photographic, golden walkway and photo studio inspired by John's illustration and the piece of art of the same name in the rule book.



And this brings me to the models - all of them interlinked to the terrain, some literally, some to get the perfect backdrop for the narrative. If you've read Abnett's Pariah, the Warblind are a great reference of the kind of terrain & character synergy we want.

Apart from one major outsider NPC faction, all the models PDF, Thistle and I are working on are really in some ways part of the table. Dozens of Pilgrims, Priests, Mechanicus Botanists, Bridge Guard... Pilgrim Enforces!

This is one recent WIP, High Cardinal Philippus, the Ancient, one of the oldest living humans on Terra, and a huge influence in the Ministorum. Personally descending the stairs to greet a very special group of Pilgrims.




As for what to expect in addition to trying to capture John's golden Terra, I've attached some of Chris Kuksi's fantastic sculptures to give you some idea of what I am imagining in my head in terms of color and detail.

A incredible start Migs! The High Cardinal looks fantastic, an incredibly old! The withered hand and cane from the Dominus is a great touch.

I'm excited to see the table develop. Will this be a 6' x 4' or perhaps larger?

I love that it will be a cross section taken straight out of Holy Terra, and I am very excited to see "true scale" terrain at last,(for all the talk of Space Marines being a shrunken caricature, the same can certainly be said of 90% of terrain we see too).

My God, I love this project so much. I wish I could be a part but I am content so sit back and watch this whole project slowly build.

Thanks for the support guys! I'll pop in for sure since there seems to be interest. Sometimes when Ammo Bunker and Iron Sleet has quadruple the comments it begs the question.

This has been the most fun I've ever had with the hubby - and I'm a happy hobbyist, so that's really saying something I think. Friends, great storyline and freedom build what I please and no repetition.

Something I thought many of you may have been waiting for - I have The Original Pilgrym teaser model revealed. This was going to be my faction until the XX Legion made their intentions clear. An Achingly beautiful Inquisitor, and a Gang of twisted, hulking, ugly beasts. I've had so much fun building them, and they may end up being recruited - or not. Pilgrym is not a series of great ideas together, it is hoping to be a collection of the right ideas! And not too many of them which is definitely my problem in life and hobby.

I had a clear goal for two models united in composition (see the triangle formed by their basing and weapons) but full of contrast in their aspect. The beauty and the Beast (1st of many monsters in the retinue)Both models ended up being quite extensive conversions, with plenty of sculpting involved. I've kept sculpting the mutant who is not yet ready in the picture.

Day 27 Operation Amymone

We’ve established shop in the 9 o’clock tower. An impossible spire in state of despair, shadow side of the Daylight Chapel. It’s quite magnificent and so clever. Only one way to get here, only available to us.

The cogitators took a week to bring up here and re assemble. The grid is finally online. A ten mile radius, spherical, full sweep, eyes and ghosts roaming the night. It’s quite the gathering. They are all after it. The so called “Pilgrym” being. Inquisitors Inson and Lasarus, possibly Molnar are here. And worse. The Sigillites. We have enough explosives wired to bring the entire tower down if they find us. I know he wants the Sigillites as much as the Pilgrym.

And the Churches. All human action is folly. The Sanctified kind of the Ecclesiarchy, always more sinister and dangerous than they appear. There’s a church of blood, the Red Atheneum, we keep a close eye on them. Worshippers of Greed prowl the streets, scavenge the endless stream of Pilgrims. Predictable but ruthless and lethal. Their operation is somewhat shockingly established. As soon as the sun sets and the grid penetrates sector C4C77 we are going to take a look at the Botanicarium. The auto-seances point to one Brostten Haggwers, but that’s when we lose them. Just burn through our Astropaths, and may need to look at building a host.

He is pleased with the Mortificator. The operation is extensive as it is efficient. We have assets to impact immediate shock doctrine and paralyze the area. Every night we hit more targets and harder.

The hunt of all hunts is on.

ShakkalakkaBoomBoom!!! Two seriously beautiful pieces. The Dissector fig is glorious. Beautiful inspired conversion and the colour scheme is perfect. I actually really like the little points of blue - adds a nice and understated point colour to the whole things. Fantastic work indeed
