If I attach an IC to a unit of VVs, does the squad lose the ability to reroll failed charges?

The rule requires the unit to have the rule, but does not specify every model in the unit must have the rule (versus rules which say, "A unit composed entirely of models with this rule..." or similar). Generally people seem to accept that attached characters do not affect rules worded in this way.

In all fairness; GW has really begun Muddying the waters on unit special rules.

The special rules in the datasheet are supposed to be applied to all models within the unit(ICs do not gain these rules when joining unless the rule says something to the effect of "at least 1 model with this special rule" and even then the IC doesn't gain the rule, but rather its effects). But then you have things like Combat squads, which are a unit based rule that has no dealings with the individual models(beyond required unit size)

There are a few other "units with this special rule" or "X-units"(like jump/Jet pack units) rules that get a bit odd with ICs.

Then you have "Units from this formation/detachment" which we have all pretty much agreed extends to ICs from other detachments joined to those units.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.
