This list idea is from a thread I read over on Bolter and Chainsword and I wanted to post it here. It is playing off the idea of equipping a Helfist Murderpack formation with the Maelstrom Rider Legacy (Outflank) and with Be'lakor to throw Invis on them when they arrive with the help of a Comms Relay. I'm willing to pay the cost to try and pull this off because I want to watch what happens whenever 5 Invisible Helbrutes walk onto my opponent's battle lines with 5 Multi-Meltas and Heavy Flamers, lol

COMBINED ARMS DETACHMENT

HQ

Necrosius the Undying (Warlord): MoN, ML2, Force Sword, Bolt Pistol with Plague Bolts, Blight Grenades, Aura of Dark Glory. 160pts

TROOPS

Plague Zombie Squad x3: 19 Plague Zombies, 1 Zombie Champion. 90pts

HEAVY SUPPORT

Obliterator Squad: MoN, 3 Obliterators. 228pts

Infernal Relic Predator: Plasma Destroyer, Heavy Bolters w/ Maelific Ammo, Havoc Launcher, Warpflame Gargoyles, Demonic Possession. 187pts

LORD OR WAR

Chaos Knight Errant: Nurgle Dedication, Dirge Caster. 450pts

ALLIED DETACHMENT

HQ

Be'lakor. 350pts

TROOPS

Plaguebearer Squad x2: 10 Plaguebearers. 90pts

FORMATIONS

Helfist Murderpack: Maelstrom Rider, 5 Helbrutes w/ 5 Multi-Meltas, 5 Heavy Flamers. 600pts

FORTIFICATIONS

Imperial Bunker: Comms Relay. 75pts

TOTAL POINTS: 2,500

So Necrosius and the Obliterators hide in the Imperial Bunker, the Plague Zombies shamble forward with the Knight melta blasting things, the Infernal Predator dakkas things to death, Plaguebearers either DS onto objectives or sit on home objectives, Be'lakor flies around and Shrieks things, Invis's the Knight or Bunker or Predator and then Invis's the Helfist Murderpack whenever it shows up and Melta or Flame things to death.

Just some fun things to try out that I haven't tried before.

Seems like a lot of points to put obliterators into an Imperial Bunker. They aren't known for their damage output, especially if they're stuck inside a building and can't lascannon things out of range of the other guns except every other turn. They're tough and survivable and meant to be out in the open, if you want something in the bunker you'd do better with a team of Lascannon Havocs I think. Slightly less versatility, but they'll almost always have a target with more overall damage output. You could use the leftover points and try to fit a single obliterator in to walk around if you wanted.

Maybe what I could do is just exchange the bunker for an agis defense line, or the wall of martyrs. My Warlord should still be safe with that unit and I can still get the Comm Relay.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I say lose the fortification, obliterators aren't big models so there should be some small mound of rocks you can put them behind.

With that 75pts you can then get a herald of nurgle, give him the grimoire and put him with your plaguebearers. Tell me is there a large (perhaps even super heavy!) vehicle that you have made into a daemon that could benefit from a 2++/3++ save?

-side note: this suggestion is very overpowered and I would only use against experienced players, don't be mean.

Isn't it against the rules to give a vehicle from a formation a legacy of ruin? Has to be a detachment, one per 1000 points.

Formations are detachments

Also legacies says army, not detachment
