Hi,

Just recently finished my 3,000 points of Eldar and am now looking at starting a Tyranids force. I have been seeing some rumors of a new codex and was wondering if it is a good idea to wait till it comes out before I drop some cash. Was interested in the Tyranid swarm box but wasn't sure if any of the models will be changing or anything like that. Any advice you guys can give would be great!

Thanks,

Fraser

What's left of Cadia

Buying troops for an army never hurts, as I've discovered that they don't tend to change too drastically from one codex to another, you should be fine to pick up some Gaunts and stuff like that.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

The getting started box is a good discount and has the best unit in the book to boot.

you can also generally get good armies here cheap or with trade.

I would wait for a wee little bit. Reason being that there are the Starter Sets coming out, and the Tyranid one comes with a Hive Tyrant, a unit of Warriors, and a unit of Gargoyles. Included will be a Dataslate for running those units as a Battleforged army. It is entirely possible that all the rules needed to run said units will be included inside (much like the different campaign boxed sets include all the rules you need for the units within). This way, you could theoretically play low points games without having to buy the codex. I would not be surprised if Tyranids get a new codex this year.

Also two of the popular troop choices (Mucolids and Tervigons) are not only expensive model-wise, but will probably get shifted into another slot if an update hits.

You're safe with gaunts tho. Those buggers will NEVER move out of the troops slot.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
