Black Templar Recruit Undergoing Surgeries

Ireland

Hey everyone

I play black templars and im quite fond of using crusader squads in 2 ways, I like to have a bunch of initiates with chainswords and bolt pistols, take a transport up the board and charge the enemy that way, but i also use them like mini combat squads in 5 man groups with missile launcher, special weapon and bolters, but i seem to get alot of hate for this as its not very fluffy for black templars, the 5 man squads work well for objective scoring and are good support for my other melee units (assault marine and termies etc).

So i was wondering which is better having all my squads as shooty or melee or is there any benefit to mixing the two together as in take a ten man squad have 5 chainswords and pistols, 3 bolters, 1 special weapon and 1 heavy weapon in one squad, would there be any benefit to this? or should i just stick to keeping shooty squads seperate from any melee at all.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions

Thanks

Keep them in different baskets.

As fluffy as it gets, infamous Black Templar's' zeal can be an explanation behind both choices - Bolter is still a very sacred and revered weapon among Space Marines, no less than a chainsword.
