So, this is my first [mostly] completed model since 2013. A Dark Apostle for my newly reforming Word Bearers army. It's turned out better than I thought, though to be fair I had low expectations.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or helpful thoughts for this (and by extension, all future models). I tried some techniques I've never done before, i.e. Edge Highlighting, OSL, etc.
I realize it's far from professional standards, and the pictures seem to highlight the flaws more than anything else, but what do you guys think?

I like it a lot.

Your Edge highlights look clean, your OSL is understated (which is perfect).

An agrax earth shade wash over the face and shoulder skull should give it more depth.

Very cool, the neatness on his scrolls is enviable.

@kb_lock:
Thanks. :]
I was worried about how the OSL would turn out, because I've seen some models that are like... super OSL-y. Everywhere.

You don't think a dark wash would make it too dark?

@Buttery:
Thanks. I'm glad my shakey-hand syndrome settled long enough to get those on. Lol.

I agree with the wash over the face and skull, just to give it some depth, can always highlight it back up a bit if you feel its tooo dark. Well done on a good paintjob overall.

A sepia wash works better on pallid flesh and bone. Earthshade to me would be too dark, yes.

Sepia on bone and raw cloth maybe but i find GW's newest sepia far to yellow for most skin, reikland flesh shade is good imo, its in the name after all. dilute to taste then highlight back after. GWs washes probably some of there best products.

I was not assuming everyone uses GW, in all fairness. Forgot they did one.
