I got back into 40k (after a 20 year absence) by accident last January.

EDIT - topic somehow got posted before I'd finished it, laptop ran out of battery and died :(. This is what I wanted to post -

I got my first miniatures in 20 years last january while I was trying to scratch a model making itch, bought a Tau Hammerhead thinking it looked cool, the off centre turret reminded of the tanks from Tron. After I finished putting that together, it looked sad all on it's own so I bought it some friends, a box of firewarriors. Then I remember how much I enjoyed the backstory to the 40K universe and started reading, that's where the slippery slope began

Fast forward 12 months and I'm now putting together my third army and my Tuesday evenings are now gaming night when I take myself off to a games store where I've met a ton of new friends.

Here's my collection -

Everything -

About 2500 pts of Tau -

About 2500 pts of Dark Angels -

The beginnings of my 30k Blood Angels -

(I have all the marines from the Calth boxset to add to this, haven't got them on their bases yet though)

The best bit of getting back into the hobby has been the model making. I'm slowly progressing with that, need to experiment more with greenstuff (I've found sculpting that very difficult) but I'm pretty proud with some of the minor conversions I've done. REALLY need to find more time to paint though, I've got everything basecoated but as you can see very little of my armies is actually painted properly.

One of the biggest surprises of getting back into the hobby has been the people, literally everyone I've met (barring some online naysayers) has been unfailingly friendly and helpful.

Excellent work! Amazing accumulation in such a short period (easy to do, huh?)

Those look like they are the same Dark Angel formations I've been running.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

Good to see another "20 year break" player returning.

I totally understand how fast an army can grow. At least you have base coated most of your models. I am still working on that stage myself.
