If you gate of infinty on a 10man squad. Can it reform into 2, 5man squads when you deploy them from deep strike?

You can only split a unit via Combat Squad during the initial deployment. Once the squad is placed on the board or in reserves as a full 10 man squad during the deployment step at the start of the game it stays that way for the entire game and cannot be changed.

Note: If I remember correctly, Gates while using the rules mechanics of Deep Strike never actually place the unit into reserves to do so.

Doesn't combat squads happen right after rolling Warlord Traits?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I can't remember off hand, but it IS before deployment, which means before it can be declared to be in Reserves or placed on the board.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

You must decide which units are splitting into combat squads, and which models go into each combat squad, immediately before determining your Warlord Traits.
