With this new year I decided to adapt my 40k NL army to be able to function in 30k games. Which isn't really that hard considering how pre-heresy NL were pretty much the same as chaos ones. So, reading the Massacre Book and staying fluffly I guess (using the Rite of War) This is what I came with which I guess would be pretty standard for NL, but at the same times seems like way too short on the unit deparment.
HQ:
Sevatar
Compulsory Troops:
10 man Terror Squad - Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs
Dreadclaw
10 man Terror Squad - Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs
Dreadclaw
10 man Terror Squad - Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs
Dreadclaw
Fast
15 Night Raptors - 3x Meltaguns, Meltabombs, 2x Power Weapons, 1x Chainglaive, Artificer Armor
Elite
8x Terminators - Harness, Pair of LC, 2 Combi-weapons.
Total: 1999 pts
I'm guessing not a great list and probably due to the expensive terror squads which are compulsory. But will it have a chance against other 30k lists? Or will it just get obliterated? Meaning that I should probably drop the Rite of War and go for a vanilla FoC

Save some points and get regular drop pods. I usually have one squad of hand to hand terrors just so I have a place to stick Sevatar. This should leave you the points to have two terminator squads. 15 raptors is a bit much, I again would go with 10. Maybe figure out how to get a vet squad in a drop pod with a melta gun and combi melta. You have very little anti-armor. Could also grab some predators or rapiers. I doubt you will have saved enough points for a Sicarian.
You have to play up the NL to their strengths. They are fast hitting and come out of the dark. In night fight you get +1 I and +1" move so Terror Assault is important to work with that.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Yah, I also thought 15 raptors was a bit much, however I read that if you want to make the most out of Talent for Muder go full size squads to get that +1 to wound. The drop pods is a good idea, I decided on dreadclaws since the enemy would have to blow up the 3+ jinking pod before scoring casualties on the unit. But with drop pods they can deal some nice dmg with the volkite and shouldn't have many marines down with 3+ and 5+++ cover in the open

True on the talent for murder thing, but remember jump packs and terminator armor make each model count for double. So your ten guys are actually counting as 20 when it comes to outnumbering.
I dont have the book in front of me, do Night Lords even have access like that to Dreadclaws? Yeah, it makes a nice insta bunker and then you can get out next turn. Still need some place to put Sevatar so you can drop him somewhere important and then home in on him with your terminators. Useful ability when it is.

I like the list, but I echo Col. Dash on the drop pods (though that may be lack of exposure to the dreadclaw on my end)
for whether or not this would be a good list: It depends on what your local group tends to bring. Locally, most 30k players here don't have to much in the way of vehicles, so a few rapiers is more then enough for me 99% of the time. in other metas, spartans and land raiders may be everywhere. I would up the list to 2,500 (what seems to be the standard) and try and fit in either more bodies (tactical blobs FTW ), some AT (if you think you need it), or maybe a contemptor or two to have some fast moving threats on the ground who can draw some fire. Beyond that, build what you think looks cool/ fits your fluff.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

The extensive use of dreadclaws is part of the Rite of War benefits. Allows tacts, vets and terror squads to take dreadclaws as dedicated transports.
The other benefit from the dreadclaws cashwise is that I could use them as chaos dreadclaws for 40k. A modded Pod however should be able to fulfill both roles

We are actually just starting with 30k at my FLGS, the BaC made lots of people get interest unto it. I'd have been buying some 30k models for my chaos army (sevatar, NL contemptor, Cataphractii and terror squad upgrades) so the jump to 30k should be easy for me. I guess there won't be many vehicles since most of the players will start with their boxes of BaC.
