Girlfriend has an army of Chaos Marines produced from the DV box of old with 13 extra marines and a helldrake. With her marines came no bits for special weapons. What kit could get her a couple of extra shooty/power weapon bits?

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

You might need to go looking at loyalist marine kits for extra Special Weapons (like Plasma Guns and such). As for Power Weapons, look to some Warhammer Fantasy kits for exotic weapons or character kits, like the Chaos Terminator Lord.

Eh, like Mecha said, loyalist is your best bet. The basic CSM kit has just one of each special weapon, and a sword. The Raptor/Talon kit is the same. And... that's it (excluding anything for a Terminator frame).

If you're looking for heavy weapons to make up some Havocs... hah, um, yeah, go loyalist. Unless you like plain heavy bolters.

A good source for the weapons (beyond 3rd party sculpts) is Forge World. Most any weapon you're looking for will be sold in a nice x5 or x6 pack, and generally have a great style to them.

You probably should just go 3rd party

unless you want a lot of generic marines.

You technically can buy conversion kits from GW's bitz section.

However they're all Finecast and expensive. It's easier to just go and bum some extra weapons off from a buddy who has a SM devastator box (you can make autocannons out of bolters if you take a thin tube and just glue it to the barrel).

Was at a game store tonight. Didn't realize the kit she was gifted was not equal to the kit on shelves right now.

Got her a new chaos marine kit, includes the basics, melta, flamer, plasma stuff. Magnets, there will be magnets, she needs Rhinos now.

Betrayal at Calth.

They're supposed to have equipment from the heresy right? Well, use all the extra bits from Calth to modify your spikey schmoes, and call those guys the mutated chosen and the basic Calth duders your CSM.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

The Raptor/Warptalon kit isn't to bad actually for adding a more close combat nature to a CSM army... You get 5x Bolt pistol + awesome looking chainswords, a Flamer/Melta/Plasma gun, Power sword + fist and additionally, 5 sets of Lightning claws + 3 Plasma pistols.

The basic CSM kit, like most of the line, is trash nowadays. The molds are so ancient that miscasts are commonplace - especially around the banding on the legs/arms.
The only "good" part of the kit are a couple of the newer helmets, (the 'daemonskull' face is ace!), and the upgrade sprue that contains the specials + Heavy bolter and additional extras such as the backpack spikes, champion bits, etc...

The Berserker kit just looks goofy as all hell.
The Terminator kit would be a helluva lot more useful if it actually didn't even exist at all!

Laughably, the Sternguard, Vanguard & Devastator kits make the best 'basics' for converting into proper Chaos Marines. Just add in the relevant Forgeworld upgrade packs to flavour.

The space wolf kits have a wide range of pieces, many of which are barbaric in appearance.

Forgeworld sells sets of 5 autocannons, good for making havocs, games workshop sells sets of melta guns and plasma guns which are good for regular CSMs, chosen, bikers and plague marines.

Wouldn't the correct answer here be bits sellers on eBay?

Help me, Rhonda. HA!

If you want berserkers, get these wingdings:

http://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Khorne-Bloodbound-Blood-Warriors

They are Khorne berserkers in all but name. Just give them some spare pistols and backpacks.

I always suggest FW for adding to Chaos Marines. the 30k/ Legion Weapons just look good in the hands of CSM, and if you're playing a legion, you could always order the shoulder pads/ Rhino Doors while you're there.

It's expensive as Feth all doing that, but the little touches are worth it( to me Imo)

And for Melee weapons, the Chaos Knights box has a lot of good Swords, maces and axes to work with.
