It's personal preference unless you want competitive Tyranids. I have swung heavily in favor of Nidzilla and have a lot of fun running a swarm with Zoanthropes as the only models under three Wounds. Rippers (tiny models but 3 Wounds), Warriors, Biovores, Raveners, Carnifexen, Tyrants and so on.
But there's nothing wrong with Swarms either other than the wasted points as you cross the table. Tyranids die by the truckload, which leaves them at a disadvantage when they have no Transport boxes to help move them along. Even Orks have Trukks... But, go all in on that idea and you can make a fun list. You need a lot of bodies so you're still hitting with a good force on Turn 2 or 3.
The main thing is that you pick a theme. Choose what you like and go all in on it. Swarms can't afford to spend points on bit bugs like Exocrines, Toxicrenes, Raveners, Warriors or Trygons. Especially Trygons. A Warrior with modest upgrades is 10 Termagants gone. EACH Warrior with an upgrade of some kind. Add in upgrades, that's more bugs gone. Take nothing but swarms and the Synapse you NEED to keep them in line. Zoanthropes will be your pillars and Flyrants will always be in an army because of how good they are. But, two broods of Zoas and a Malanthrope is pretty much as big as you'll get outside of those Flyrants.
Nidzilla can get away with it easier since the heavy hitters are included first. But add in 30 Termagants and you're taking away a Carnifex. And a Carnifex will serve a Nidzilla list way better. Troops are either Rippers, Warriors if you feel like it but they rarely perform well, and Mucoloid Spores. Some Nidzilla lists use Gargoyles, and I don't mind that sort of addition because they can provide good cover to all the bugs with wings and bodies and the Venomthropes give the key bugs a 3+ Cover from that screen. Which is why I like Skyblight too.
