The last thing I needed to buy to get started in the hobby was a can of primer. The store, having run out of Chaos Black, only had white of it, and Vallejo primers. Bought it, got home, and realized that I should look up if it's any good, and apparently people hate it, but since these opinions are mixed with their airbrush stuff, it's hard to find what people don't like. What's wrong with the canned spray primers by Vallejo? Also, if it really sucks, what can I use it for so it's not money down the drain?

I have no idea other than some pigments have a tendency to separate after sitting around my advice give something a teat coat like a spare bit of sprue or terrain something that if it come out clumpy no loss. I personally have used it and never had o problem. Though I prefer army painter brand as that's what my figs has. For non monies waste use it for terrain like a lumpy texture paint if it sex that bad.

I've never even seen Vallejo rattle can primer, so I can't speak to its efficacy. But generally speaking, it's a can of black spray paint. What would you do with a can of spray paint, if not prime models? For a lot of us, maybe nothing

You can also ask your store what its return policy is.

I would be shocked if any black primer were so horrible as to be unusable, though. Ive tried a lot of brands and never came across that. It's not like varnish, where some are just garbage.

I replaced Tamiya can primer with Vallejo can and it will be forever. For ~9 pounds you got a 400 ml Vallejo can vs overpriced GW and Tamiya. Also my old Tamiya primer (250 ML) made the surface so glossy that I had problems painting over it with a brush - I guess their primer is intended for coating with Airbrush, honestly I dunno...

Only con I can think of is that the can is really large and I cannot hold it properly with my tiny hands.
