Just wanted to get some other folks opinions.

How many pieces of artillery do you try to take?

I'm thinking of fielding three siege artillery in a 2000 point kingdoms of men army. My reasoning is that each round one piece only has a 33% chance of connecting, two pieces have a 55% of at least one hit, while 3 pieces have a 70% chance of at least one hit each round. I'm way more comfortable with that 70% than I am the 33%. On the other hand that is a lot of points for those three pieces.

How about smaller games? I can fit 270 pts into a 1500 point army, but what about less than that?

Instead of being merely opinionated, try being informed.

Thats what I think on the topic. AT least 3, but sometimes I got with 5 if it's an rogan gun type.

cool, thanks for the link. I saw the title but thought it was about the video game and just posted in the wrong place.

Having three typically means that you are hitting once per turn on average. (I've fired old fashioned cannon... they don't miss two out of three shots.... I've also fired catapults and trebuchet - they really aren't something that you want to use on a moving target. You find your range, and keep hitting that same point, over and over - they would be lucky to hit one out of three shots on a moving target.)

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.
