So here's the dealio: I want to buy a baneblade to kitbashing it into a cooler form for my chaos renegades army. Problem is that it seems that I can't take anything besides the stock model, no transport varients and no dedications to chaos it seems. So my main thought is how do I best use the baneblade for an army that will mainly be vet/disciples in chimaras and accompanying Marauders and weapons teams on foot? I was thinking of using its 12" bubble of zealot as a buffer for my infantry while slowly moving foreward, using chimaras as shields and distractions as they move foreward over objectives

Best use I've seen was using the Zealot bubble in combination with the Seige of Vraks Unending Host formation. You put 3 meltas or plasmas per squad and just run directly at the enemy with the zealot keeping you moving. Everything that dies comes back with Outflank on a 2+ at full strength. Throw in enough Artillery to level a mountain and you have an terribad day ahead of you. It's frankly broken at lower point levels.

Marauders require you to take no Covenant. I can't imagine how that's better than at least one other option. Seriously consider taking a covenant.

Chimeras aren't great shields. You have Mutant Rabble. Use them. It's a free cover save for stuff, and since you're screen gets Zealot, it's basically gonna hang out. Take a moving 30 wound shield instead. You win by overwhelming numbers anyway.

Yups x100. It's easy to keep the bubble big enough to keep melta out of range as well.
Chimeras are nice for objective grabbing with R&H, but don't pay for them just to block dudes. Remember that a chimera is about 15 dudes worth of points.
