Subject: Astra Militarum Valkyrie Question: Lascannon and Hvy. Bolter Upgrades Worth It?

Hey mates. I have been putting my army list together and while there are some cases where I have points left over depending on the list, I have debated on equipping my Valkyrie with the Lascannon upgrade and Heavy Bolter Door Gunners. Currently I have kept mine with the Multi-Laser and only have added the Rocket Pods, however I have been tempted to give them the Lascannon so that I have a flyer that is both capable of anti-infantry as well as anti-tank and anti-air, however not sure if it would be worth it, and the same goes for the Hvy. Bolter Door Gunners. Anyways, just wanted your opinions on that and I appreciate the help mates.

I don't really think of Valkyries as an anti-anything option because no matter how you kit them out, they have underwhelming firepower. I think of them more as a mobile unit in an otherwise static army which is able to carry an Obsec unit, score itself, isn't that easy to kill and can be a general nuisance.
Consider grabbing an Inquisitor and taking an Inquisitorial Valkyrie from IA2 as it's 25 points cheaper (the Inquisitor costs 25 points but hey, you get an Inquisitor). Some of the upgrade costs are different and it doesn't have Grav-Shute Insertion. The FAQ on the FW site allows you to take it as a FA choice even though Inquisitorial detachments don't have FA slots.

Hmm don't see the reason why I should mate. An Inquisitorial Valkyrie Gunship can only take the same weaponry as a Regular Valkyrie so I don't see the reason when the only real difference is that I get an Inquisitor. Talking more about the Valkyrie Gunship loadout and weaponry.

A single bs3 lascannon shot is unlikely to do that much over the course of a 6 turn game. As are 6 str5 shots from the HBs.
Do you have points left over with literally nothing else to spend them on?
If so, you might as well upgrade.
If not I wouldnt bother at all.

Because it's 25 points cheaper???
And if you want a gunship go with a Vulture.

Heavy Bolter sponsons are kind of a waste, since you'll pay for an extra 2 weapons bringing you to 5 in total, and you can only fire 4 at full BS.
And since the Rocket Pods are an anti-infantry weapon, it doesn't make much sense to mix an anti-tank weapon in with it. Stick with the Multi-laser rather than the Lascannon.
