Subject: Metal Kasrkin with Plasma Gun or Meltas?
|

I've been trying to assemble my first W40k squad when I found out that my favorite unit, Kasrkins, had their models go out of production. I believe I need 7 lasguns, 2 special weapons, and a sergeant (Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm still looking over tabletop layouts for squads). What I noticed though are that the two special weapons that I usually see with these models are flamethrowers and grenade launchers, but I've seen a few with plasma guns or meltas. So I have two questions.
Are these metal or plastic miniatures?
and
Are these custom made with metal bits or was it an actually released model if it is metal?
I'd love to get my hands on a Kasrkin trooper with a plasma gun instead of the flamer.

The old Kasrkin were metal miniatures.
The reason why you might have seen a lot of grenade launchers out there, was the way the Stormtroopers were packaged. You had the basic 10-men squad, which included a Sergeant., a Grenade Launcher and a Flamer and a seperate 2-man blister, with one Melta and Plasma gun each.

Grenade Launcher and Flamer were also available in blister format for a long while. It wasn't until the Robin Cruddace crapfest book that they ceased to sell GL+Flamer separately.
