It depends - I personally love the blood host with the bonus tithe per turn and everything in the slaughtercult getting a second result from the table.
But I don't mind the possessed tax.
Some people can't stomach the though of taking the possessed so a CAD is more for them. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'd take phlem on one of the grinders.
Consider CSM allies and take belakor and a unit of cultists in it.
To get the points drop the marines and one of the lords.
I'd actually combine the hounds into 1 large hound star with the lord in it - makes it almost impossible to chew threw to get the lord.

I just got my KD codex and possessed last night so haven't run them. Are they really that bad? I thought they looked awesome when I assembled them lol.

They are just very overcosted for no extra durabilty (still just T4 3+ guys) and not a huge punch in combat (unless you get a lucky possessed roll on the table) in addition to be a slow foot speed CC unit

I can see those points. My plan was always to put them into a Rhino as a distraction from other, more important units anyway. They also get a 5++ being Daemons.

Totally agree about them looking awesome, I used those bits to do a ton of kit bashing, easily one of the most versatile kits for CSM to use.
And Crown Axe is right about their weaknesses, but it sounds like you have a good plan for them. That's essentially the only way to use them outside of putting 20 of them in a Spartan (which would be hilarious btw).

Mine tend to get ignored and usually make it into combat. I wouldnt put them in a rhino though with fleet you should be able to get in combat turn 2. Rhino they have to stand around doing nothing for a turn.
