So eventually I'm looking at getting the Get Started Skitarii box. What else would make a good addition? More Vanguard? I want to have a small Allied for my DA, using their walker for some great Anti-Air.

Minimum to run the skitarii maniple is 2 troop choices. So a box of rangers/Vanguard is key. Infiltrators and ruststalkers are awesome kill teams that can handle any one. Dragoons are cool if you get a squadron of 3 and give them radium jezzails. 6 sniper shots with rad poisioning. so if you roll a 6 to wound not only do you get AP2 from the sniper, you also get 2 wounds instead of 1. And you wound anything regardless of toughness. 45pts per dragoon - makes it an attractive offer.

Radium jezzails are terrible

And he doesnt techically need anything else to run their mantiple, he can run 2 units of 5 vanguard

But I would agree with another box of vanguard/rangers.

I just picked up the Get Started Skitarii box to ally with my dark angels. The formation out of the box is actually pretty decent to start with. If you're looking for more rangers/vanguard and/or dune crawlers, definitely get another box or two. Then just flush it out slowly to fill whatever formation/detachments you want.

My end goal is a war conclave, but I have all year for that....
