I just found out that my FLGS is going to be starting an escalation league beginning in early March, giving me about 6-8 weeks to prepare. I just started my Necron army, and I feel like this is going to be a great way to learn them! I've posted a couple 1850 lists in the past few weeks, but I'm having trouble deciding on what to use for the 250pt starting army. Here are the models I should have access to by March (if I keep my nose to the grindstone and get them all assembled/painted):

1x Overlord
10x Lychguard
7x Immortals
8x Deathmarks
32x Warriors
6x Tomb Blades
1x Canoptek Spyder
6x Canoptek Wraiths
8x Canoptek Scarabs
1x Ghost Ark
1x Night Scythe

I've been playing around with some 250 lists, and here are the ones I like best so far:

Overlord w/ Warscythe (100 pts)
5x Lychguard w/ Sword and Shield (150 pts)

Overlord w/ Solar Staff, Phase Shifter, Gauntlet of Fire (130 pts)
7x Immortals w/ Gauss Blasters (119 pts)

Overlord w/ Solar Staff and Phase Shifter (120 pts)
10x Warriors (130 pts)

10x Warriors (130pts)
Ghost Ark (105 pts)

Really all I've had time to come up with so far. The shop owner said the 250pt bracket won't have many restrictions, but he did put a 200 pt/unit max. I still have plenty of time to prepare, but I wanted to get some ideas so I will know what I need to focus on painting first. Any thoughts/ideas? I'm willing to buy additional models, especially if someone can make a good case for a unit I haven't considered yet. The league will go 250-500-1000-1200-1500-1850. He said if everyone wants to, we may even so on to 2000-2500-3000! If we do that, I plan to get some more Immortals/Deathmarks, a Monolith, a C'Tan Shard of the Nightbringer, and a Tesseract Vault.

Working on it

The ones that seem the most viable are the Lychstar and the Ark. I would personally go for the lychstar

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

Thank you for the reply. I'm leaning toward that formation as well. I figure that with the smaller battlefield in a 250 match, CC is all but inevitable. I've afraid the OL/Immortals and OL/Warriors would get overwhelmed pretty quickly.

Any other suggestions? I could especially use some help with the 500-1500 brackets.

For the 250, the Ark's 13 armor would be pretty tough to crack, and the ability to bring back warriors would be hugely significant. The Lychstar would have to get in combat to do damage, while the Ark can shoot three targets in one turn and can literally kill anything.

For the lower point levels, if you're allowed, taking a Harvest would be pretty solid. That amount of survivability in a low points game would be hard to overcome. Just be sure you have enough fire support to deal some damage at decent range. Maybe use this tactic closer to 1k.
