I am using a Black Templar space marine list at the moment and love the fluff! BUT i do want to some psychic action as well. I was wondering about adding an inquisitor at mastery level 1 with some psyker henchmen. I am also looking for a devastator like squad as well having very few anti vehicle options other than a single terminator with a chain fist. i was thinking along the lines of inquisitor at mastery level 1 with conversion beamer for some long range shots in a close range army, and a mix of psyker henchmen and plasma/rocket launcher/lascannon henchmen to add.

I am still new to army lists and am not sure what direction to go in so any feedback would be appreciated. And also where do you find inquisition models with the conversion beamer and other weapons? do all the weapon options come in one box?
thanks for the help

I don't have extensive knowledge of the inquisition codex, but if your looking for great Black Templar allies that add Psychic powers to the mix, you would probably get a hell of a lot more out of Grey Knights! One of their HQ choices is a Librarian, similar to Vanilla marines but you get access to ML3 and again I am unsure on this but I think the psychic powers you get access to are a little different. You also get access to Sanctic Daemonology which has a few spectacular spells. Would be fun deepstriking your 20 man crusader squads wherever you need them with Gate of Infinity. You can even use it to leave an assault!

I know you said you want long range, but it's hard to beat a Ordos Xenos inquisitor toting rad grenades and pskyotropes o help your close combat squads.

That being said, inquisition isn't really Ana amazing long ranged army. They usually are used to complement a strength (aforementioned inquisitor) or to fill in cheap, disposable troops to sit on objectives.

I love inqusition my favorite combo is 3 servitors with arms, 3 crusaders, 3 monkeys, 3 psykers. 220pt squad can repair a landraider on a 2+ has 3++, str 5, AP 4 large blast psychic power, 3 Las cannons or any other combination just need to throw in an in inquisitor, a techmarine, and a crusader and its a death blob.

It will depend on how the Black Templar list is shaping up. After that, we can help advise on how to make the Inquisition compliment the rest.

They've updated the book such that Psychic Barrage doesn't exist any more, you get to roll on a bunch of the regular psychic trees instead. It does mean you can try rolling for Invis for a mere 10 points however.

Inquisition don't do long range stuff very well. The best bet are Plasma Cannon servitors (since they're so cheap). Jokaero are the only Henchmen that can use Lascannons, but they're 1pt more expensive than a Lascannon Devastator per model, and only have BS3. Inquisition Conversion Beamers are cool, but you need to be >42" away to get the S10,AP1 blast - at 18-42" its only S8 AP4 blast. And you're paying a lot of points for it too.

I dunno what the rest of your Black Templars list is like, but I would be looking at adding in an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor as a 'grenade caddy' - hitting an enemy with Psychotroke and Rad grenades before you charge a Crusader squad in could make a huge difference to an assault phase. The Liber Heresius Relic gives lots of cool special rules you can activate for a turn, one of which being Scout (which you can use before the First Turn) - you could reposition your Land Raider Crusader for an awesome turn2 charge.

I think the way to run ranged inquisition is using the cheap bolter henchmen - something like this:

Henchmen warband: 1 psyker, 8 henchmen with bolters, 3 with plasma guns - 92pts

Or if you want a home for an inquisitor then take servitors.

Henchmen warband: Inquisitor, 1 psyker, 3 multi melta servitors, 2 plasma gun henchmen, 6 henchmen with bolters - 123pts

Cheap mid-ranged squads with plenty of bodies, LD 9 and bonus psychic. Just let them hang out in cover and throw buffs on nearby units
