Hey Guys,

As part of my new years resolution, I have decided to try and paint more, play more, and try and clear the dust in 2016 more than in 2015. I have been in the hobby for 15+ years now and have always been more of a hobbist than a gamer.

I have tried to search for gaming groups and I have seen a couple in the area but they seem more focused on historical gaming/ MTG, and I also have a regular couple of friends I see and play like we did at Uni every 3-6 months or so.

The biggest problem is however my Job which means I am not so flexible to attend "regular nights" and I try to make the most of my weekends if I'm not working them with my friends and family who are not interested in the hobby.

So my question is there anyone Dakka who either already has a pre-established gaming group who don't mind an infrequent tag along, or anyone else who is looking for an opponent in the area?

Regards Sam

I'm in Chesterfield and would be up for an informal game of X-Wing as and when. I'd also be interested in trying Mordheim and would be happy to put a band together if you don't mind playing against someone who has no experience of the game.

Hey Gangrel,

Hows the gaming scene up in Chesterfield ? do you play much already. Good news for you, I suck at both at moment anyway and dont have many games under my belt.

I has hoping to play someone maybe a little bit more local, but I'll PM you later and see if we can arrange something.

Anyone else in the area? or does everyone go to Nottingham ?

Regards MS

Generally speaking it's games at friends' houses around here; not much of a club or store scene. I'm happy to drive to Derby if you have any kind of local venue. Mordheim is one of those games I faancy trying but have no opponents around here. And it gives a reason for collecting and painting a new squad! Currently I'm looking at putting a small team of space pirates together to give 'Blaster and Bulkheads' a try (which looks like great fun).

There is a Chesterfield gaming society and a local organised mixed games group, but I personally don't know what each plays.
( apologies for butting in but gangrel can probably name them and I'm drawing a blank)

I do live in Derby, I play wh40k, the local games workshop has games nights, Monday and Thursday, i too am getting back into gaming and like you due to work, it's not often i can actually find time to play, i do have weekends off, though with family living in Nottingham, i can either go to the games workshop in Derby or Notts or, because it is actually on the way i can even make it to warhammer world, so if you do play 40k, i would be more than happy to play

Gangrel, Doomsday, thanks for your responses please see you PM's for further discussion.

Buttery where you based ? or are you only aware of the Chesterfield group through the UK gaming clubs sticky

I am still interested in anyone else who is around for the odd casual game in or around Derby. Of if anyone has a regular meet that is worth a shout.

I'm Gangrel's housemate roughly half the time.
I know of COGS due to their involvement with various wargames shows, and the other group due to a sign being up in the local GW (or it was), the manager spoke highly of it.

I didn't mean to intrude, as last time I played X-wing, the Slave I was a new unit.
