As the subject reads. Here's the specific scenario I'd like to know if its possible..

Dark angels army 1500

-Death Wing Strike Force
Librarian
Deathwing command squad with Champion and Apothecary (both one per army)
Deatwing command squad
Venerable dreadnought in drop pod

-Death Wing Strike Force
Librarian
Deathwing command squad with Champion and Apothecary
Deatwing command squad
Venerable dreadnought in drop pod

So can I take 2 detachments that both have a one per army selection? Do they count as separate armies for this? Similarly does each formation makes its own Drop Pod Assault? So do both drop pods arrive on turn 1?

Sorry if I missed this in the rules but I'm new to 7th ed and I'm still getting to grips with the new formations, detachments and force selection charts

Army means "everything you brought to the table that belongs to you at the beginning of the game". This is mainly for the Unique rule and Relics, so you don't field two copies of Abaddon in the same army or have two relics when only one of them is suppose to exist in the galaxy. This does open up the question of what if the Enemy fields the same unique character as you, but the handwave is that the person or relic is a counterfeit, and clearly the winner was the original (or if he's not the original, he's doing a damn better job at being the original).

In the case of the Deathwing and Ravenwing champions, it's more for balance reasons as otherwise no one would take the normal squads.

Some entries say "per detachment". Those ones you can field another copy of if you bring in another detachment.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Thanks dude!

Its a shame as 2 Apos would be awesome. Although as it stands with a Deathwing Strike Force there's no reason to take the normal squads at all as you still have better options with the command ie not being obliged to take a power sword.

While I'm on the subject I assume that the Apo in the Deathwing is different from the one in the Ravenwing?
