Please help. I want a forge fiend but don't like the model. My conversion idea is to use the body and turret from a defiler, remove the battle canon and cover up the mount somehow. Then mount the hades autocannons on either side of the turret block.

Also thinking of replacing the defiler legs with big tank tracks.

But to know if this is viable I would love to know the dimensions of the Forgefiend model - specifically height, length and width.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The Forge Fiend is smaller than the Defiler enough you might have problems with your idea.

The Forge Fiend is roughly 5" long, 3.5" tall, 3" wide.

If you're using a Defiler to convert a Forge Fiend and you want to keep it similar in size you'll need to keep its foot print similar to the main body of the Defiler which the legs attach to. I think the idea of using tracks instead of legs would help you keep the footprint you want. I think it'd be kinda cool to see a number of sets of Taurox's tracks attached along the length of the defiler body would give it that crazy chaos machine vibe. Once you do that, you might consider shifting the defilers turret back to the hole in the middle of the hull instead of at the front and that would give it the look of a more stable firing platform.

The smaller footprint was why i was thinking of using track instead of legs.

The taurox tracks are a nice suggestion, I'd prefer something more open so you can see the wheel inside ideally. i'm sure i saw a bitz company online a while ago that made stand alone resin tracks but now I cant find any yet.

This isn't too bad but i'm not sure it will be big enough:

Zinge has some good stuff. Those tracks are roughly 2-1/4" long and an inch tall... That's realistically about as much room as you have on forgefiend sized base.

I'll have to measure the defiler body when i get home. i'm thinking that having 4 of those track units might be cool and make it look more chunky and industrial.

As it's supposed to be warp-fuelled i might also incorporate some piping linking the turret to the guns.

The turret will still be a stand alone piece that looks like it could turn 360 - so the walker assault rules still make sense. Just not sure if I should give it some sort of melee spikes or something for when it gets assaulted.

If I remember, the forge fiend is about the size of a Rhino or a predator.

Been a long time since I've seen one though, so I'm not quite sure.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
