They 'ain't cheap' which ever way you look at it, but I'm determined to make a serious attack on the hobby and interested to know if anyone's even slightly more reasonable.

There was a great deal on amazon us with links here on dakka. Just search for it. May be cheaper than what you're used too and with prime or a decent amount of other stuff it is free shipping.

You're generally looking at £7.50 - 8.50 minimum for a size or 0. Ebay tends to be alright, just have to be carefully you're getting the right one as there's a dedicated miniatures line which has tiny brush heads. You don't want those.

I didn't think they were dedicated for miniatures, rather they're just a miniature series. I've got some and rarely is them.
Rosemary and Co is usually the best/cheapest alternative, especially for a brit.

Here is the link that was shared on DakkaDakka the other day with 4 Series 7 brushes at a really good price. They appear to still be the same price although you wont get them until March or April. Its still totally worth it and if I had more money I would get 5 or 6 sets

yea I'm not sure where everyone is seeing these low prices. When I look at the link I see $75 to $92 for them.
Just an FYI to all of those who bought them at the lower price. IF it was a mistake Amazon will charge you the full amount when it is corrected. They have done this in the past.

They were a spectacular deal (4 brushes size 0-3 for $17.50 or so ), but that only lasted about 2 days. :(
Look for a fine arts store in your area, or email Winsor Newton for a retailer. These stores almost always have sales; just ask them. The price that I usually pay for brush sizes that we usually use for hobby (size 00 - size 2) range between USD $9 - USD $18, with the larger brushes being more expensive)

By not buying tons of them, you saved more for other people, and good karma will be returned to you three-fold
So says ancient fortune cookie. Which would also make it a moldy fortune cookie, but shhhhh.
